I like watching the Wimbledon event. Andy Murray has had some bad form as late and has had an injury, hoping he's made a full recovery.

Hate tennis. Always glad when it's over. Each to his own though.

No wonder the BBC go over the top with it. It's one of the few sports still in their portfolio.

Love tennis, but hate the way Laura Robson & co always get wildcards to the tournament.

Robson is already out, beaten by a nobody.

But she's £35k better off so why should she care?

Robson has been out of action for 17 months but for a 23 year old woman I thought she played poorly today. Murray has a hip injury and has been having pain killing injections in his hip so hopefully he should get to the quarter finals at least.

I love Tennis having been brought up watching the likes of Borg and Connors in the seventies.

I'd like to see them all playing with wooden rackets,even if on for an exhibition match.

Some of the modern rackets are like missile launchers.

In a similar vein,I'd like to see two teams of modern day footballers play a 90 minute match in 1950's boots,and with a ball from the same era.

They'd cry like babies.

I remember Borg playing with a wooden Donnay racket. Slazenger, Dunlop and Wilson were the other popular makes back then. These days these new graphite rackets have much bigger head surface but shorter handles. The bigger racket head allows the players to generate so much power than players back in the earlier days. 

Roscoe Tanner and Victor Amaya were the big servers in the seventies so God knows what speeds they would have generated with these modern rackets

Squash has gone exactly the same way with bigger graphite heads and shorter handles.

Served like a crab. Although not a tennis fan,it was enjoyable to watch in those days.

Yes I do. An Aussie. Not as good as Rod Laver, John Newcombe or Ken Rosewall who were the other great Aussie players around that time.

Ken Rosewall was great. What he lacked in power,he made up for in artistry. Sadly,the game is becoming more and more about brute force.

Rosewall is credited as being the greatest mens player never to have won Wimbledon.

Hewitt and McMillan were good for a laugh in the doubles.

Sadly,Hewitt is now only remembered as a child rapist.

Bob Hewitt was the bald Aussie who made South Africa his adopted home. Frew always wore a white cap. They were both very good doubles players but back then Raul Ramirez and Brian Gottfied took some beating.

Rain stopped play. Thankfully Cliff Richard is now a citizen of Barbados and nowhere near Wimbledon.

Jackie Stewart is in the crowd but not spotted Rolf Harris yet.

Perfect opportunity for me to blow my own trumpet as a Bolton Lawn Tennis Championships finalist in both singles and doubles in consecutive years, back in the day.  

Then gave up playing competitively in favour of cricket.

'Finalist',suggests you lost. Spill the beans.

Even if you did,well played. I suffered the indignity of having to serve underarm,because it was the only way I could actually hit the ball.
I looked a right Nelly.

Ok, Sherlock. Yep, 4 finals, 4 losses. No bottle. Can you guess why I turned to cricket as my summer sport?!
