FOOD fans can look forward to enjoying some contemporary new surroundings while queuing up for their favourite pasty.

In just a few weeks, Carrs Pasties will be moving its bakery in Manchester Road to a newly refurbished site opposite.

The family-run bakery is renovating the former Big Wash car wash as it prepares to move out of the shop that first opened in 1975 by early August.

Joe Carr, managing director at Carrs Pasties, said: “We opened the bakery in 1975, but we have completely outgrown the space now.

“It has not been fair to our staff or customers to try and serve thousands of pasties in that little space, so we have created something much bigger and more modern.

“There are quite a few places along Manchester Road that are having facelifts, so I think its about time we showed them up again.

“We are putting quite a bit of money into this development to make it look good.

“We are so proud of our customers who will queue up in the rain for a pasty, so we need a quality shop to match the quality food.

“We pride ourselves on being as traditional as possible and every single one of our products will still be made just like it would be at home.”

The new shop — which has cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to renovate — will include more tills and will also have parking at the rear.

Customers will be able to collect pre-paid orders from a designated collection point, and the shop will also have more serving stations.

The original bakery shop will be turned into a wholesale collection point for trade customers.

Whenever I visit Bolton I always call and buy a dozen pasties and stick them in the freezer. Great with mushy peas.

They advertise them in the Macron but they don't sell them. I'm told Carrs were approached but they couldn't cater for the quantity required for all four stands hence why the contract went to Greenhalgh before Hollands took over.

Now that they are sponsoring the North stand does that mean they will get Carrs pasties?

I'm pretty sure they are tied down to a contract with Hollands.
