Cost us a bundle, started off well, then awful, loaned out to Rovers, played better when he came back but is still on a huge salary and seems to still believe his own hype.

Even if he accepts a cut, he'll still be one of our most expensive players so should we pay up to retain him or send him on his way and take our chances?

I'm not sure why you say he "believes his own hype" as apart from one ill-fated trip abroad he keeps pretty silent.

He's another, like Madine, that has already proven himself not good enough in the Championship so I certainly wouldn't be offering him money above the average. His passing is woeful.

I wrote he seems to believe, not that he definitely does believe and I base that on the rumours that he wants more money than we are currently prepared to offer him hence the tardiness in concluding a deal.

That would suggest that he values himself higher than the club do.
Hence the question.

So basically you made it up.

Unless you know Jay Spearing, or have a top secret mole at the club (like me), you have absolutely no idea what is going on. Are you related to Boggers?

For all you know Spearing may want to give up football to join the circus.

Spot on, and why  we need to look for better.

He's signing for Chorley??

You heard it first here folks...

Apparently he's not signing for Chorley but unless he significantly lowers his wage demands it's looking increasingly likely he won't sign for us either. We have Pratley and Derek who could do his job anyway so why waste money on Spearing? Plus we might be signing Milligan. We'll know soon enough.

i would be sad to see him go but if he's holding out for anywhere near his wages from last season then he's no chance, best to move on now and find a replacement.

Apparently he is a good influence in the dressing room and acting captain. That is worth somat in a struggle which is likely this season.  So I would keep him but only on sensible wages of course. We still need a mid fielder with some vision and guile IMO ......too many cloggers at the moment.

He's clearly holding out for a better offer than the one on the table at Bolton. I don't know what these negotiations rumble on for so long these days. Take it by the deadline or leave it if you have a better offer. I never thought he was particularly good and was only deemed useful to us when we dropped into the third tier. Find someone else if he doesn't fancy another Championship relegation scrap.

Take your negativity elsewhere. We'll be promoted by March.

I forgot we already have Karacan as well as Derik, Prats and a couple of others who can play DM and we're also interested in Milligan so if Spearing is holding the club to ransom then it would be no loss if he goes.

May not get in the side, would prefer Karacan, Vela and Derik in front him.

Whoever is currently captain of Bradford will be your new captain.

I do sometimes think that Bradford are trying to get promotion by stealthily transferring their players and staff to Bolton. Shocked

Always worries me when managers focus too much on players they have worked with in the past.

I wouldn't keep him on at any price. We already know he's not good enough for the champ so whether it's 10 grand a week or 1, it's irrelevant, get rid.

Good in the dressing room probably amounts to him laughing his head off at his own shite jokes, like most other scousers.

Well he's gone now. With the Milligan deal looking like a step too far we'll perhaps know a little more about who will be first choice DM as parky's team starts to take shape.
