Karl Henry is confident Wanderers can begin another unbeaten run against Barnsley this weekend.

Phil Parkinson’s side were humbled 5-1 by league leaders Wolves at the weekend, ending a seven-game streak without defeat.

The Whites were on the verge of climbing out of the bottom three, and would have done so had it not been for a late Reading equaliser in their previous game.

But after slumping back to the foot of the table, Henry is hoping to embark on another ascent as quickly as possible, starting with the visit of Paul Heckingbottom’s Tykes.

“When I got here, Bolton had taken two points from 10 games and looked well out of it,” he said.

“We needed to go on a run and luckily we did. Now I think we’re capable of going on another run.

“Wolves can do that to teams and they will continue to do that to teams in this league. But we’ve got good results against teams who are nowhere near the quality of Wolves.

“We’ve got enough to be okay. We’ve got some experienced players and all we can do is dig deep and try to take as many points as possible.

“We all know the situation. I joined the club when it was rock bottom and we know full well it’s going to be a long season, but we’re looking forward to cracking on and build another unbeaten run.”

Henry felt frustrated as Bolton allowed leads to slip against Reading, Fulham, QPR and Sunderland but says the result against former employers Wolves was a completely different kettle of fish.

“I had seen bits of Wolves and heard how great they are and I am guilty of not realising how good they are - they were better than I thought,” he said. “Their movement and quality were very good and they pulled us apart and pulled us around.

“I would like to think we’ve been playing quite well - until Saturday we’d been on a really good run.

“We were seven games unbeaten and of those seven, we’d taken the lead in six of them and conceded late goals in four of those to take draws so we were frustrated not to have taken more points.

“We conceded some sloppy goals which were uncharacteristic of us because we haven’t been like that.

“Some of the goals were slightly farcical, however we were outclassed on the day.”
