Don't know how true it is but according to somebody (Sportdec) on twitter -

Despite their position in the table, Bolton's Gary Madine has won MORE AERIAL BATTLES than ANY player in Europe's top leagues.

Go Gary!

(I guess it also says a lot about how we play too!).

Even more reason to play 2 upfront so the 2nd striker can benefit from this.

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

Probably because he's had about 750 balls punted up to him. Wouldn't mind seeing the actual percentage that he's won.

It would be interesting to know what constitutes 'winning an aerial battle'.

In Madine's case, if another Bolton player takes possession of the ball as a result of him winning the aerial battle then he's to be highly commended.

However, if its just about getting your head or face on a massive hoof from your keeper, regardless of where the ball ends up, then I'd have to say that it isn't the kind of stat you're hoping for as a striker.

It seems strange to me that 5 defenders don't top this list in this league.

Maybe Madine would be better utilised at the back? Then again, I've never been a fan of his.
