Andrew Taylor is determined to make every game count with eight matches of the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship season remaining.

The left-back returned to the Whites' starting XI before the international break, starting three consecutive games after a combination of injury and the form of Antonee Robinson had seen him serve as back-up to the Everton loanee in recent months.

His return to the side coincided with Bolton putting together a three-game unbeaten run as they saw a return of five points to lift themselves further away from the second tier's bottom three.

Keen to make up for lost time and help cement the Trotters' place in the division for next season, Taylor vowed to help Phil Parkinson's men "finish the job."

"To beat Villa the way we did, it has given everyone a huge boost of confidence," the defender told the Bolton News. "Leeds will be a tough game, we know that, but we're flying.

"The way we’re playing at the minute we’d fancy our chances against anyone."

He continued; "It feels like there’s still a long way to go. It would be stupid to start thinking the job is done.

"We have put ourselves in a fantastic position. Our fate is in our own hands but there are a couple of huge games coming up. If we’re not ready, we can get reeled back in.

"We’ve given ourselves a big fighting chance, so now it’s time to finish the job."

While Taylor has spent much of the season duelling with Robinson for a place on Wanderers’ left flank, he revealed how both players have benefitted from the competition for places and was delighted to see the young American earn a deserved call-up to his national team.

He said: "I was one of the first to text and congratulate him because he’s had a fantastic season.

"For a young lad who hasn’t played first team football to come into a team which has been fighting relegation all season is not easy, but he’s handled himself brilliantly.

"We’ve both helped each other, spurred each other on, and it’s been that way all season. It has helped us both, hopefully we can both finish the season strongly."
