Someone please tell me he looks a very promising striker as he’s a League 2 player...

Never seen him play, but he has a decent record and it’s relatively low risk financially so at least it’s an interesting move.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] wrote:Someone please tell me he looks a very promising striker as he’s a League 2 player...Christian Doidge has joined Bolton Wanderers on loan until January, when he will leave Forest Green on a seven-figure permanent deal.
Doidge is the Forest Green Rovers record goal scorer, having found the net 56 times in his 99 appearances for the club, since making the switch from Dagenham & Redbridge in June 2016.
Dale Vince, Chairman, Forest Green Rovers, said: “I’m really grateful to Christian – for all his time here and his incredible loyalty.
“Last January he declared he was going to stay and help us beat the drop from League 2 – which he did. That felt exceptional to me at the time – you know who your true friends are when the chips are down.
“Letting Christian go today is in part about repaying that loyalty – it’s a great opportunity for him, and one he’s earned.
“We are disappointed to be losing him but at the same time it’s hard not to be excited for his future. In departing, Christian has set two club records – our top all-time goal scorer, and a transfer fee in seven figures.”
Mark Cooper, FGR manager, added: “I’ve got mixed emotions - I’m really pleased to see Christian go on, as I always said he would reach a higher level. I’m sad to see him go, but I’m pleased that he’s got his opportunity.
“When young players come to us, they’re coached, developed and are taught the game so they can go on and achieve their dreams. It’s life changing for Christian and as sad as I am to see him go, I’m really excited for him and I’m excited for the future of Forest Green.”

So looking to sign 2 or 3 and ended up with one. Still the one can finish and has a bit of a poacher look about him so we'll have to make do with that. Hopefully he'll come good.

So somewhere in a range of £899,000 then. That's comforting.

He's well known, and respected in these parts. He can certainly score, but it will be interesting to see how, (not if), well he does at our level. I just hope he's given a decent enough chance.

I thought our only option now is out-of-contract players? Presumably a January window option?

Apparently we're looking at Daniel Kelly a part timer in the League of Ireland. Plays for Shamrock Rovers

No, youve got the wrong man. It's Danny Kelly of talk sport.

READING. Clement under growing pressure. Phil Parkinson's name humming around the corridors of power.

Tweet from Nixon today, fingers crossed.

Interesting, I wonder if Reading would be able to lure him they’re a shambles on the pitch but in decent shape off it - the opposite of us really.

He was able to keep us up last season so I'm sure he could pull it off with Reading this year, especially with actual money to spend in a transfer window. He'd probably get Madine in.

You mean the actual money he is paying for Doidge? if that's what he brings then good luck to them.

The first time he had money to spend and couldn't get anyone he wanted to sign. Doidge was a last minute panic buy despite what Parky or Anderson have said about only buying to improve the squad. A shambles of a signing.

I don't really know but I can't imagine Reading's finances are anything like as bad as ours. Despite being the best in the league of course.

This is not so much a transfer rumour as a Management rumour.

Phil has close associations with Reading of course.

Arguably if BWFC takeover goes ahead, it's unlikely Parky would have very much time left as new owners usually look for a new manager to work with.

Parkys done a reasonable job at Bolton, but, think with new money, a fresh aproach will be needed.

I doubt the fans of any club are clamouring for Parky to manage them. They know what to expect.

Fans don't get a say, until they want the bloke out. He's still a fans favourite and because of that it usually bides you a bit of time, ala Allardyce at Bolton.

Few clubs will take on a manager the fans don't want.
