Wanderers take on Nottingham Forest in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday evening. With that in mind, bwfc.co.uk have picked out a selection of players who have played for both teams.

Jack Hobbs

The towering centre back joined Forest from Hull City on an initial loan deal, after the Tigers reached the Premier League in 2012/13.

He signed a permanent deal at the end of the 2013/14 season, after making quite the impression for the Nottinghamshire club.

Hobbs played 85 times for Forest in his five-year stay, with injuries hampering his impact for the Reds.

From there, the defender signed for Wanderers this summer on a free transfer, making his debut against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.

So far this season, Hobbs has made seven appearances for the Whites, partnering the likes of Marc Wilson and David Wheater at the back.

John McGovern

The Scottish midfielder spent seven years at Forest during his career, which was filled with a plethora of trophies.

Under the tutelage of Brian Clough, McGovern became a three-time European Cup winner, as well as a two time winner of the League Cup and a First Division champion in 1977/78.

Towards the end of his career, McGovern joined the Whites as player-manager in July 1982. He remained at the club for a further three years.

Chris Fairclough

The central defender joined his hometown club Forest in 1981, where he made over 100 appearances at the City Ground.

During his time with the Reds, he went on to win seven England Under-21 caps.

Following spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United, Fairclough joined Wanderers in 1995.

Whilst at the club, Fairclough was in the squad that won the First Division in 1996/97, where the Whites scored 100 goals and accumulated 98 points.

Zach Clough

Coming through the ranks at Bolton, the forward joined the development setup at the age of eight, before making his debut aged 19 against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup Third Round against Wigan Athletic.

He scored during that game, being the difference maker in a 1-0 victory under then manager Neil Lennon, who described Clough as “a very special player”.

He made 75 appearances for the club in two stints at the club, where he scored 23 goals.

Clough then signed for Nottingham Forest in January 2017 for an undisclosed fee.

The frontman has made 31 appearances in a red shirt for Forest, with four goals to go along with it.

Peter Shilton

The highest ever capped player for England had a glittering career whilst at Nottingham Forest from 1977 to 1982.

A regular during his entire time at the City Ground, Shilton went on to make over 200 appearances for the club.

Various team and honours came the goalkeeper’s way, with two European Cups, a First Division title in 1977/78 and a League Cup winners’ medal to name just a few.

Personal accolades were not far behind during this part of Shilton’s career, as he won the Player of the Year in 1981/82, along with being named in every PFA Team of the Year whilst at Forest.

Coming towards the end of his career, Shilton joined Wanderers in 1995 and made two appearances.

Liam Trotter

Joining from Millwall on an initial loan, the midfielder signed a three-year contract in July 2014 after a successful spell under Dougie Freedman.

He scored his first goal for the club against Sheffield Wednesday in April 2014 and went on to make 72 appearances.

During his time in BL6, Trotter enjoyed a short loan spell with the Reds, where he played nine times.

Saidy Janko

Former Manchester United academy graduate Janko joined Wanderers on loan from the Red Devils in February 2015.

The left sided player had the perfect start to life in a Whites shirt, as he scored on debut against Fulham in a 3-1 victory.

During his short term loan, he made ten appearances overall.

After spells with Celtic, Barnsley and Saint-Etienne, Janko joined F.C Porto in June before joining Forest on loan the following month.

So far this year, Janko made five appearances for the Reds.

Matt Mills

In July 2012, Mills signed a three-year contract with the Trotters for an undisclosed fee.

Given the number four shirt on his arrival, Mills debutised in a 2-0 home victory against Derby County in August 2012.

The former vice-captain of the club went on to make 94 competitive appearances.

Following this spell, Mills joined Forest in July 2015 on a free transfer to be reunited with former Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman.

With 87 appearances made during his three-year stint at the City Ground, Mills was a regular fixture in the Forest squad.

He now applies his trade in India for Super League side, Pune City.

Matt Mills what a wanker he was!

I do remember seeing Shilts playing in one of the two games he played for us.

Think Shilton played in the play off semis against Wolves.
