Forrester - Evatt shares update on Forrester after Luton substitution 17592134

Wanderers boss Ian Evatt says Will Forrester came off at half time against Luton due to a hamstring issue.

The defender was replaced by Jack Iredale at the break as the Whites suffered a narrow defeat against Premier League opposition.

Evatt doesn’t think it is anything “too serious” but could not give much information at this early stage.

“He has got a slight hamstring niggle. We don’t know whether it is just fatigue, cramp or coming from his back perhaps, or if there is a small strain in there,” he told The Bolton News.

“We will have to see how he responds overnight and then make a decision on getting an image to see what we are dealing with. It doesn’t look too serious but it is very early days for us to make a call on that.”

Bolton are also without Gethin Jones, who is away on international duty representing Australia at the Asian Cup.

The Whites certainly held their own in an entertaining tie at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, and Evatt hopes they can build on the performance in their upcoming League One fixtures.

“When you see cup upsets, especially teams from League One and League Two playing against Premier League opposition, it is usually them hanging on for dear life and then having a moment or set-play and then riding their luck,” he continued.

“We have taken them on toe-to-toe, on merit, and that is what we wanted to do.

“We haven’t got a result and they are through. We wish them well because I ham an awful amount of respect for their staff and that football club. But I am just delighted with the account we have given of ourselves.”
