I'm working in Sheffield for the next six months and this involves living in a Travelodge  during the week.

And it's shit boring.

So imagine my delight when I realised that it's Rotherham away on Tuesday.

Just bought my ticket and the girl in the shop said we've sold "about 400" so far.

Not bad for a freezing Tuesday night game away in South Yorkshire.

Anybody else going?

(And before Whittam pops up and condemns this thread as an attempt on my part to illicit gay sex in a hotel room, it's not - I'm just genuinely interested.)

Don't worry, I'm taking the laptop.

The hotel advertises "Free Wi-Fi" which as we all know, really means "More porn than you can shake your willy at."

Not that I'll be doing that though......obviously.

Good try, Boggers.

Nearly fell for it but then I applied the "Who's posted it?" test and relaxed.

Very Happy

Not trying to trick you mate. I'm confused, is this game actually on?

Skysports are usually reliable so I'm not sure

Yup.

The original one was postponed because it clashed with the FA Cup.

And I seriously hope that the girl at Bolton Central wouldn't have sold me a ticket at ten o'clock this morning, knowing that the game was off.

But it is Bolton, so you never know I suppose......

Cheers Sluff.

You been watching the Tour Down Under?

Looks like proper hard work in that heat.

I've been following the Tour de San Luis mostly, it's far more intriguing I think with Cavendish getting spanked by the young Columbian Gaviria - one to look out for next season (and at the Olympics too).

A clip of how easy it made it look on Stage 3 if you have not seen it.

Welcome back bread cheers

I'm afraid my dedication doesn't stretch to a freezing weeknight in Yorkshire at the minute and neither will my bank account unfortunately.
Enjoy your porn and football. All you need now is some drugs and hookers and your divorce should be sealed before you get back home. Job done.

That's impressive - uphill as well.

Just read about it on the Cycling News site and he does look like one to watch.

Former World Junior Track champion and a born sprinter.

Move over Mr Cavendish...... Very Happy

Good man, Mr Fazer.

Us Salford lads don't feel the cold do we, because we're 'ard!

I'm considering going shirtless.

(It just seems a natural progression from not wearing pants.)

Last time I went to Rotherham was 1991. Tony Cunnigham scored 2 to put us 2~1 up. Shaun Goater equalised in the last minute for them. The first of many disappointments as a Bolton fan, I actually cried (I was 9 years old). Have hated Rotherham ever since.

I'm going as it's an important match and I've got holidays left to use up by April. So I've decided to go with a couple of mates.
It's not that far,as long as the weather over the Pennines doesn't slow you to 40 mph in the slow lane, snowing heavily.
A win should push us up to 12 th I think,so with another 7 after this one in the next 4 weeks it would be a great platform to go for the playoffs.
Also I want to take the piss of the music they run out too.New York,New York.Proper cheesy Becuase they play at the New York Stadium.
Very strange name for a ground in Rotherham.
I went to the old ground years ago Millmoor I think it was called,we drew 1-1 and I recall having to walk up some back alley to get to our cars.
Total shithole.

A bit of trivia - an area in Bolton is named 'New York' also.

Anybody know where it is without Googling it?

Up Deane Rd, Sluff near the Queen Ann and The Vulcan.

I used to deliver pizzas there in a former life.

Sometimes go to the Queen Anne for a pint, Vulcan is the place to be if you fancy a fight.

One woman ended up in a fight there once and hit a bloke in the head with her stiletto heal! Shocked

Not drunk in either of them since the early 90's when I used to knock about with mates who lived on Ladybridge.

The smell of the Vulcan's bogs is one I'll never forget - rancid piss.

We used to drink in the King's Head and the Locky Arms more than the two mentioned.

Yes, bob on Bread.

Only reason I know is that I used to go to Deane Grammar school when it first opened.

Mrs (Joan) Barbar the deputy head only died last year - if anybody remembers her.  RIP.

Used to go in them (and the Stags, and the Kings Head) a lot over 30 odd years ago - great nights out - but I guess they must have died like most of the other pubs these days.

I had been known to sup in the Rumworth too with my school uniform on at lunchtimes!

Happy days - were they really so long ago now?
