Wanderers saw a priceless victory snatched away late on at The Den but finally ended their goal drought.

While frustration might be the over-riding emotion after Saturday’s match there were some decent performances. Marc Iles gives his view on how the players performed.

WANDERERS (4-3-3)

BEN ALNWICK…6.5 Made a superb double save in the first half but didn’t have a particularly busy afternoon beyond that.

PAWEL OLKOWSKI…6 Penned in for the most part, the full-back dug in diligently against Shane Ferguson on Millwall’s left.

DAVID WHEATER…7 Dealt comfortably with the continual stream of crosses, forcing Millwall to change their attacking approach in the second half.

MARK BEEVERS…7.5 Grabbed a good goal, cleared one off the line and dealt with pretty much everything thrown at him. His best performance of the season.

ANDY TAYLOR…6 Made some well-timed challenges and didn’t make any glaring errors but found himself flooded at times in the second half.

JASON LOWE…8 Looks a different player in a 4-3-3 and was desperately unlucky not to score a goal. Shaded man of the match from Beevers.

MARC WILSON…6.5 Influential in the first half but found himself covering space after the break as panic started to set in. Worth another go in midfield, for certain.

JOE WILLIAMS…7 Looks happier when given license to get forward. Provided a good cross for the goal but needed a bit more calmness later in the game.

SAMMY AMEOBI…6 Quiet afternoon for Ameobi who rarely got a chance to take the game to Millwall. Too deep in the second half.

JOSH MAGENNIS…6 A good start to the game but took a hefty knock and had to be substituted at the interval. Shame, as he looked more like the Magennis of August/September.

WILL BUCKLEY…6.5 Electric opening half hour when Millwall simply couldn’t live with him. Should have had a penalty. Effectiveness faded, eventually.

Subs: Donaldson 5, 46 (for Magennis) – Just unable to get into the game

Noone 5, 65 (for Buckley) – One half-chance but struggled

Not used: Matthews, Vela, Doidge, Hobbs, Wildschut

Millwall (4-4-2): Archer; McLaughlin, Cooper, Williams, Meredith; Wallace, Hutchinson, Leonard, Ferguson; Gregory, Elliott.

Subs: O’Brien 37 (for Elliott), Romeo 61 (for McLaughlin), Skalak 77 (for Meredith)

Not used: Martin, Tunnicliffe, Karacan, Wallace

Referee: Various 6/10 – Lee Swabey failed to spot the penalty, so he got marked down. But linesman Daniel Reach – the third ref of the day – actually did quite well.

Attendance: 12,554 (661)

I bet that's the only time in his career that Buckley has been described as "electric".
