WANDERERS (4-3-3)

BEN ALNWICK…6
Tidy with the few shots he had to deal with in the first half and might have grabbed the headlines with an incredible late header.

PAWEL OLKOWSKI…5.5 Linked up well enough with O’Neil in the first half but stopped in his tracks after half time. Brentford always looked dangerous down the left and Henry’s involvement in the goal showed how the Poland international had been outnumbered.

DAVID WHEATER…6.5 Coped pretty comfortably with Maupay for an hour with little getting in behind him. Could he have got more on the header before the goal?

JACK HOBBS…6.5 Did a decent job protecting the penalty area up until the goal and may claim a marginal offside.

ANDY TAYLOR…6 Heavily involved in Wanderers’ best spell of the first half and pushed on as best he could. Crosses didn’t really worry Brentford enough, though.

GARY O’NEIL…7 Executed the game-plan as well as anyone, got the ball into the Brentford box and worked hard out of possession. Unlucky with a deflected shot, too.

JASON LOWE…6 Didn’t waste the ball but wasn’t involved enough where it counts. Definitely one of Parkinson’s hardest workers but the midfield balance just isn’t right.

MARC WILSON…5 Brought in at Joe Williams’ expense to try and give a touch more defensive stability. The gamble didn’t work.

WILL BUCKLEY…5 Simply not in the game enough. Two decent moments just before half time but in this system Parkinson needs his wide players to be a lot more influential.

CHRISTIAN DOIDGE…5 Didn’t threaten the Brentford goal nearly enough. Was it the quality of delivery – or is he struggling against Championship defences?

SAMMY AMEOBI…5 Wanderers are overly reliant on Ameobi, that much is true. But when he flitters on the periphery of games like this it frustrating to watch.

Subs: Noone 6, 69 (for Olkowski) – Worked hard and should have at least got a shot on target after beating two players late on.

Brentford (3-4-3):
Bentley; Mepham, Konsa, Jeanvier; Odubajo, Mokotjo, Sawyers; Benrahma, Maupay, Watkins.
