Ive heard that all those British Steel Workers are going to retrain as Strippers. Theres a lot of drunk women on the weekend who will pay good money to see them.

Edited. I changed it to be more polite.  ( Its supposed to be a joke referenced at that film from Sheffield where all the workers were laid off and became strippers. )

Not as good as it sounds. 37% of people voted overall and Brexit got 35% of that vote.  So out of the total electorate who could vote just under 13% voted for Brexit ( .35 X.37).
When Labour now change tack, which they must do now that would add their share of the vote ( around 14%) to the other anti Brexit voters ( Greens, Lib Dems, SNP. PC ,Change) and that will increase the anti Brexit vote, or at least those who want a second referendum to around 54%.
There will be another referendum and Remainers will win- there will be nobody in Westminster to stop it as there are no Brexit MPs.
Brexit will lose!!
There is also no chance now of another General Election- both Labour and Tory will agree on that.
.

One fly in the ointment on this on Rammy. You're assuming all the Labour voters will vote for the reversing of Labours ideals, and will continue to vote for them.
Genuinely, can someone remind me of what percentage of the Labour support voted for Brexit in the referendum?
As for the 13%, the fact is, they won.

Having said that, I think were in for another painful dragging out of views, aims, and wants, all with no clear end in sight.

It was put forward on TV this morning, that the Brexit party, as one of the larger parties in Europe, may have influence on whether there is a further extension. I'm assuming, with the installation of a Brexit PM, that we will be leaving in October, possibly without a deal, supported in Europe by the Brexit Party.

Something I've noticed is that a no deal exit will be 'disastrous' for the UK. I've yet to see anything, figure-wise, etc, other than wailing and arm waving. Are there any concrete facts and figures, or is this another situation where everyone panics, because that seems to be the favourite reaction?

I've no figures to offer but I imagine that a sizeable proportion of both Tory and Labour voters favour remain- certainly their MPs prefer to stay.
As for definitive consequences of leaving with no deal, I don't think you can do much more than speculate as its uncharted waters with any number of unknown factors at work.
I haven't a clue what would happen, and neither do others, but I think it will be beset with real problems and perhaps disastrous consequences. Better than that I can't offer.
If the population is polarised at the moment  its just going to get far worse. People  talk about existential problems and I  think we're facing one now. The  Tories are leaderless and visionless-  not really a clue what to do next.
Labour is led a by a silly old duffer with ideologically obsessed figures hiding in his shadow and so they need to sort themselves out as well. I can see a leadership contest for them not far off as they can smell blood. Thornberry is sharpening her claws as is Mc Donnell.
Interesting times.

As you say, interesting times. As you may know, I can't stand the sight, or sound, of Thornberry, but to her credit, she gave some honest answers when she was on the telly last night. However, she let herself down again, when she reverted to her responses of talking over, and ignoring the others there. But, as you say, it did look as though she was trying to pull away from Corbyn.
I did chuckle when Huw wotsit said that she was disagreeing with the Labour hierarchy, which was odd, considering she was one of those that made the decisions.
I've still to hear from Johnson, but was impressed with Raab, and Stewart. It'll be interesting to see how all of them tailor their stories, and integrity, to catch the votes. Whoever gets it, will have a truly poisoned chalice.
Politicians, don't ya just love 'em.

Although Farage's one trick party got more votes than any other party perhaps the most significant aspect of the voting is how it split between leavers and remainers. The Brexit and UKIP vote was 34.9% of votes cast whereas votes for parties opposed to brexit totalled 40.4% of the votes cast. A much bigger margin than the 48/52 split at the referendum which Farage considered unfinished business unless he won of course.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

When Leave won the 2016 referendum you delighted in telling us that the result was based on a 70% turnout and therefore it wasn't a true reflection.

Fast forward 3 years and you're clinging to a stat for a vote that (at best) had a 40% turnout.

That's the key message from last night. Taken together the Remainers ( or at least the anti Brexiteers) won a higher share of the vote. Brexit and Farage can preen their feathers as much as they want- but  the real story is that  they're fooling themselves.

You should try reading what I say rather than what you imagine I say.

As rammy has already pointed out, on a turnout of less than 37% only 12.8% of the population voted for brexit on Thursday. So much for brexit being the "will of the people".

All this arguing about percentages just goes to show how deep the problem is. Who gives a shit about who won/lost by what margin. Its an indicator only. What it shows me is that we will be leaving the EU, and if both sides need to compromise, then look at it sensibly, and put time limits on agreed associations, e.g trade, if necessary. It will also give the EU time to reconsider some issues. Whether its a week, month or even a couple of years, that's no problem. Of course, the time up to October 31st will be wasted with even more ridiculous squabbling, and its the first time limit that will appear. If we haven't agreed anything by then, we can at least use the time to prepare ourselves for the change, and hopefully, with such a big threat looming, the idiots will come up with something.

The stat only holds up if you don't add the Tory's to the leave vote. Also many labour voters, of the few that are left, will be leavers too.

In essence the referendum result has probably not changed very much.

Obviously we don't know how many of the tory and labour voters on Thursday would opt for leave or remain but not every tory voter is happy to leave especially if it were on a no deal basis.

Also I find it curious that you refer to "the few that are left" labour voters when labour took 14.1% of the vote and the tories only 9.1% putting them in 5th place behind the greens.

At this time, I think the likely outcome is that we will leave the EU, and the only thing to be decided is with what type of plan, or not, that we have in place.
I doubt very much we will cancel Article 50. It will be even more chaotic than now if we have a second referendum. Many people will feel that the democratic process has not been followed, which could throw another factor into the mix. Whilst all this bitching and backbiting is going on, we're rolling steadily to the legal default. I think Corbyn is a weak man, and a ditherer, so may well go with his MP's and put it to the vote, if he gets the opportunity.
