THE long wait for new ownership at Bolton Wanderers may finally be over after a major breakthrough at the weekend.

Fans have been desperate to know when the deal will be completed since a Heads of Terms agreement was struck with preferred bidders, the Football Ventures consortium, a week ago.

Talks continued with secured creditors throughout the week but it is understood an obstacle which had threatened the derail the takeover completely has now been negotiated.

Confidentiality agreements prevent detail from being disclosed but as we went to press last night administrators at the club were hopeful there could be more good news to share within the next couple of days.

A source close to the deal told The Bolton News: “It would appear there has been a huge and very positive move forward in the last 24 hours.
“A significant hurdle has been overcome which should now pave the way for the deal to reach completion.”

Meanwhile, a new company has been created at Companies House with the expressed purpose of taking on the hotel, which is under the control of separate administrators.

FVWL Hotel Limited was registered on Thursday and lists three directors – Sharon Brittan, Jeff Thomas and Michael James.
It is known there have been several expressions of interest in the Bolton Whites Hotel and that administrators sought confirmation from each bidder at the end of last week via email.

Wanderers play their first pre-season friendly at York City on Sunday and the incoming owners have already made outline plans for player recruitment which could come quickly into play once the takeover is completed.

Offices and changing rooms at the training ground also remain under lock and key, with the club yet to settle a debt owed to Atherton-based Sibcas for the lease of the temporary buildings.
Players and staff shuttled between the stadium and Lostock for sessions last week but it is hoped a resolution can be reached quickly to enable things to return to normal.
