WANDERERS will wait on a takeover green-light before offering ANY contracts to free agents this summer.
With the start of the season less than three weeks away, Phil Parkinson has just six senior players currently at his disposal – and training sessions are being bolstered by youngsters brought up from the Under-23s and 18s.
The club feel they can move into the transfer market at short notice and a list of suitable players has been compiled by Keith Cousins, who is acting as a football advisor to the administration team.

That list is thought to have included ex-Celtic and Hibs striker Anthony Stokes, who was looking for a new club after playing in Iran last season.

But the harsh truth facing Bolton at present is that no contract offers will be issued to potential signings until a sale is completed, which currently leaves the manager facing the prospect of throwing untested youth into League One football when the season kicks off at Wycombe on August 3. Ex-Blackburn Rovers winger Craig Conway and former Rotherham and Preston midfielder Ben Pringle have been training at Lostock to keep up their fitness, as they live locally, but are not currently being considered for a contract.

Harry Brockbank has also been training with the club for the last week and could feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly which has been organised at Lostock today, believed to be against Saudi side Al-Ittihad, who are staying at The Bolton Whites Hotel.

The sale of the hotel remains up in the air – with at least three bidders looking to buy the business ahead of the Football Ventures consortium, who are the preferred bidder for the club.
Meanwhile, former Wanderers keeper Ben Amos has completed a move to Championship new boys Charlton Athletic.

The 29-year-old has signed a one-year deal at the Valley after the expiry of his Bolton contract this summer.
Amos had moved on loan to Charlton during his time with Bolton, helping them to the League One play-offs in 2017/18.

“It feels great,” said the former Manchester United man. “It doesn’t really feel like I’ve been away, to be honest.
“I know a lot of the people and the staff here. I want to play Championship football. I’m excited to get going.”
