Einstein was quite a guy.

'Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile'.

So Boris has decided that his “oven- ready“ Brexit deal
- the one he got rid of Theresa May with
- the one that he denied scrutiny of by illegally proroguing parliament
- the one he tricked the Queen into signing
- the so far very, very, very expensive one

...is not fit for purpose?

Failure is becoming an art form.

But don’t worry - he’ll instruct the negotiators to be such twats that he’ll be able to blame the EU for walking away from the talks - when we end up with the No Deal we warned about 4 years ago.

Independent running a story today on the British Retail Consortiums projection for increases in food prices in January and it was interesting to see that although that they vary enormously eg only 12% increase for cucumbers but a whopping 48% increase for minced beef.

I’d assumed that no deal brexit price increases would be proportionately the same across the board but seems like they won’t be.

Realistically we can probably backfill the shortfall in fruit and veg production in the summer months (if we force jobseekers to pick it) but our dependency on imports will kick in during the winter months when we haven’t got the climate to produce our own.

Where is the game of brinkmanship going to get us? We are in real danger now of there being no deal at all which is probably what Boris and his cronies wanted all along.

The myth of Brexit has unravelled now, reality has caught up with the rhetoric.

We can't leave with a deal better than what we already had (which was by far the best deal out of all member states by the way) while still fulfilling the leave campaigns commitments on immigration, fishing and the courts.

As Boris can't deliver on those criteria his only option is to go for a no-deal and keep the hardliners happy. His strategy of government it is to survive day-to-day, so if that means short term glory for long term suffering he'll take it.

Second rule of Politics.

It's easy to see how the game is played once you know the two rules!

Well I can’t see Boris or the super rich architects of Brexit suffering at all.

It’s the working class mugs who were conned into voting for it who are likely to take the pain - along with the young and the vulnerable.

And the old leavers are dying off anyway...

I not only find that extremely offensive and completely insensitive and disrespectful to posters you know on here (and their age and state of healthy) but also highly hypocritical coming from someone close to seventy yourself who voted FOR Brexit.

Totally true and yet there are still plenty of people gullible enough to believe the lies Boris spouts. Rolling Eyes

The push to exert even more autocratic control is getting sinister now. Getting rid of anything that stands in their way.
Attempts to illegally prorogue parliament are followed now by attempts to illegally change the terms of the Brexit Withdrawal Bill that Boris signed only a short while ago. No wonder the Civil Service's top lawyer has felt compelled to resign.

Even government ministers admit they will be breaking international law. Why would any country trust us to keep to any treaty we signed. That is what happens when you have a government led by a man with no morals or principles.

The country’s top lawyer resigning is unfortunate. Six top government officials resigning is Cummings taking down the government.
Same tactics as Trumpy.
And Putin.

Government statement today on the withdrawal agreement:

"The withdrawal agreement and Northern Ireland protocol aren’t like any other treaty. It was agreed at pace at the most challenging political circumstances to deliver on a clear political decision of the British people."

The only reason it was 'agreed at pace' was because Johnson put an October 31st deadline out there,

And when it was going through parliament, the government voted to have it rushed through to hit that deadline, claiming it did not need proper scrutiny. Tories who went against that were chucked out of the parliamentary party.

The brass neck on these cunts.

For all the (sometimes valid) points that Remainers have been condescending about leavers lack of understanding, or fear mongering about worst case scenarios - it actually appears those warnings are coming to fruition.

I don’t think that Cummings could have made his intentions any clearer.

Just wait until all the rational and impartial civil servants have been replaced with puppets, the British media (now flagged up as no longer independent of government by the European council) have all fallen under control) and the full weight of leaving the EU kicks in and there may be no way back from the full 1984 scenario experienced in totalitarian states like Russia.

It was noticeable that the new Puppet house Speaker refused to sanction Boris for not answering the questions he was asked.

It won’t be long before they’ll have full control and the people will no longer have a say.

Some of today’s fuck ups:

No US - UK trade deal ifGood Friday agreement undermined

Tory bid to keep voters sweet will cost equivalent of entire NHS budget

FTSE continues to fall while ECB decides

And further to yesterday’s Hancockup one of my missus’ team who is self- isolating because her kid has a temperature had to drive 2 hours to a testing station that had closed down because they ran out of tests. That’s a four hour round trip in a car with a sick kid. Bastard Toerags are turning us into a third world country before our very eyes.

Rarely read the Spectator - but this is an interesting article on why we’re hurtling towards No Deal under  the Tories:
