Wanderers were beaten in their first-ever visit to the JobServe Community Stadium - but how did the players rate?

WANDERERS (4-3-1-2)

BILLY CRELLIN…5.5

Made a good double-save in the first half from Poku and Senior but communication with Baptiste looked all at sea for the second goal.

GETHIN JONES… 6.5

Worked well with Hickman on the right and caused Colchester plenty of problems in the opening hour.

RICARDO SANTOS…5

Looked like he lost his man for the opening goal and though he looked more comfortable in a back four, he’s yet to live up to his summer billing.

ALEX BAPTISTE…5.5

The mix-up with Crellin blotted an otherwise reasonable afternoon for Baptiste, who had made a couple of timely interventions.

LIAM GORDON…5.5

Looked game in an attacking sense and linked with Delfouneso well in the first half. His early miss set the tone, though, and he does leave a lot of space behind him at times.

BRANDON COMLEY…6

Not the return to Colchester that he would have planned. Picked up a nonsense booking which took the edge of his performance in the second half.

TOM WHITE…6

Once again tidy in possession, even though he was not as influential as he had been in the previous few games.

JAK HICKMAN…7

Evatt’s change of system leaves the former Coventry City man as the chief beneficiary. He worked well down the right with Jones, building on an encouraging debut.

ALI CRAWFORD…5

Found himself cut out of the game as Wanderers relied more on the wide men to get forward. One big chance in the first half went begging.

NATHAN DELFOUNESO…6

Worked hard on the left and had the beating of his man for most of the game – but another whose finishing let him down at the wrong time.

EOIN DOYLE…5

Skipper for the day but didn’t really get the service he wanted. Pulled his best chance wide of goal.
