I see Comrade Corbyn has finished his suspension from the Party. I heard he won the biggest Cauliflower on show at the local village fete, that he grew on his allotment.
Allegedly he has booked a 2 week holiday in Jerusalem next easter and is looking forward to sitting in the commons eating water thin soup from his flask.
From what I can gather Starmer has refused to restore the Whip, which means that he, Corbyn,  will have to sit as an independant in his Chamber. Corbyn previously had the Whip removed from him, which basically means he has been expelled.
It all sounds a bit Public School where everyone calls each other by their second name, even in informal conversations.

It's probably goes back to UKIP - Dick Braine, Mike Hunt and Wayne Kerr presumably objected to using both names?

Hugh Jarce didnt oppose that either.
I wonder if everyone knows the following.

At the beginning of each session in Parliament and in both Houses, a prayer is said.
No one is allowed in the Public Gallery to see this. All the MP`s have to face the wall behind them. This is thought to be from when they wore Swords and it was easier to face the other way around.
In the House of Lords a Bishop reads a prayer.

With Corbyn not being allowed back in for now, it's difficult to see a winning outcome for the leadership. There's likely to be trouble from the Corbynistas on the ground and the back benches pushing to get him admitted - but if they do we'll be back to the old accusations about antisemitism.
The only way I think that there could be an acceptable outcome for Labour is if Corbyn swallows his pride and gives a full and wholesome unreserved apology to the Jewish community without splitting hairs to make his point - after all it happened on his watch -  and personally I can't see that happening.

If he doesnt get his Whip back he can always superglue himself to W H Smiths window alongside his brother Piers at the next Protest against Lockdown.

I mean, I dont dislike Corbyn, I do agree with Socialism, not to an extreme degree though. On the other hand the anti-semitism and other malarkey that he seems to be involved with, I dont agree with. He is finished as a serious Politician now.
Has the Labour Party now got another Tory Leader, is my worry.

Labour chief whip demands apology from Jeremy Corbyn

In a letter to his former boss, Nick Brown, Labour's chief whip, said Mr Corbyn's response to the report caused "distress and pain" to the Jewish community.

The chief whip is responsible for organising a party's MPs in Parliament so they vote the way the party wants them to, and can discipline any who do not follow the party line.

Mr Brown asked the Islington North MP to "unequivocally, unambiguously and without reservation apologise for your comments".

He also sought confirmation that Mr Corbyn would remove or edit his response on Facebook - and that he would cooperate fully with the party's efforts to implement the EHRC's recommendations.

For me, the knowledge of the structure of things about a subject is wonderful. I would imagine most chavs out there wouldnt have a clue what the Chief Whip is.
Knowledge really is power.
I would imagine that many people dont know about the new UK Supreme Court. Established in 2009. It is the final court of appeal for Civil and Criminal cases from England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is in the old Middlesex Guildhall in Westminster, near the Palace of Westminster. It was created to assume the Judicial authority that was once held by the House of Lords!
I enjoy my researches. It would be interesting to research what will happen after Brexit in terms of Human Rights and other issues that ended up in the EU Courts. Where does the UK stand in terms of EU Law after Brexit?
From what I have understood about the UK Supreme Court, I believe that they cannot rewrite Legislation, but must refer it to the Houses of Parliament. Which is a good idea, when you understand about such things.
Note, It is not the Supreme Court for such things in Scotland!
From what I understand from listening to Lady Hale, is that it is an Appeal Court. They do not hear the winesses, they dont decide who is telling the truth, they dont decide what the facts are. The parties come to the Court with a set of facts and ask the Supreme Court what the Law is.

Not that I'm really bothered about this but how much media coverage would this have raised if it had been a prominent Tory politician instead of a Labour one!

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson arrested in bribery probe

Liverpool's mayor Joe Anderson has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit bribery and witness intimidation.

He and four others were held as part of an investigation into the awarding of building contracts in the city.

It is understood the Labour Party has suspended Mr Anderson pending the outcome of the case.

The year-long police probe, Operation Aloft, has focussed on a number of property developers.

Liverpool City Council said it was co-operating with Merseyside Police.

A police statement said those arrested include two men, 33 and 62, both from Liverpool, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit bribery and witness intimidation.

A 46-year-old man from Ainsdale has also been arrested on suspicion of the same offence.

The other two arrested men are a 72-year-old man from Liverpool and a 25-year old from Ormskirk, who have been arrested on suspicion of witness intimidation.

Developer Elliot Lawless was arrested in January 2019 and denied any wrongdoing. Elliot Lawless is currently released under investigation and was not one of the five arrested earlier on Friday.

They'll report it alright but it won't be banner headlines as it would have been if it had been a Tory grandee caught with his hand in the cookie jar - allegedly of course.

I also haven't seen social media going into headless chicken mode over this either.

Funnily enough I made mention of T Dan Smith/Poulson not long back - where Mr Newcastle was doing something similar 50 years ago - just to make a point that whatever your political party is, there's always some that abuse their position and power for their own ends.

As they say, power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I agree. However the difference between the Tory party and most other parties is that it only exists to look after the interests of the rich and powerful. It's greatest success is conning millions into not understanding this.

Eh???

There's a political party in every democracy that exists to look after the interests of the rich of that country, as there is a party to look after the interests of the working class, just like Labour in this country which is basically created and funded through the labour unions donations to the party and that's why the Labour Party is named Labour in the first place Kier Hardy and all that, after whom Keir Starmer is named.

It's not a 'con' at all it's the basis of why groups of people with shared interests form political parties in the first place, to win power and further the causes of the people they represent.

As you fully well knew already.

Not for the first time you are missing the point.

The con is that millions of people vote Tory when their interests would be far better served by voting for other parties.

A bit like brexit really, as more and more people are starting to realise.

I'm missing no point.

Many/most people simply don't bother to educate and understand better for themselves about most things, politics just being one of them.

That's why they follow the crowd in general rather than stand against it when they realise that it is going in the wrong direction.

That's also why in politics it is key to win the votes of the 'swing' voters in marginal constituencies, as demonstrated just recently where the whole of America came down to how a handful of thousand people cast their vote in just two or three key states, to determine who would be their next President.

Labour lost the last General Election because people were sick to death of Brexit not being resolved and voted for Brexit in the first to a considerable extent because Corbyn and Labour in effect didn't put forward a campaign to encourage its supporters to vote Remain.

By the time the 2019 General Election came around even Labour's hardcore supporters in the north had no confidence in his leadership or his utterly unbelievable party's election manifesto and there really was no need for the Conservatives to 'con' anyone, Corbyn was simply unelectable and that's why Labour suffered such a catastrophic defeat and I may add why he and his followers in the parliamentary Labour Party have quickly been purged since.

Most people simply aren't altruistic and vote for what they believe is the best for them - or in the case of the 2019 GE, the least worst!

Sadly people are easily manipulated these days and social media plays a massive part in that.

We simply get what we deserve.

Lately I have noticed a growth of conspiracy stories about how the lockdowns and so forth are not common law and therefore contestable and not legal. In fact, the lockdowns ARE legal and are statute.
Here is a link to the latest coronavirus act 2020 legislature with ammendments up to 21st December. This is in the interests of truth ( as always ).
The Legislation was given Royal Assent in March, if I remember correctly.
