Harry Brockbank is back in contention for Wanderers – but Ian Evatt is unsure if he will make the cut.

The full-back has impressed on the training ground and should be full fit after a groin injury ruled him out of the last couple of weeks.

But the Bolton boss joked that his lockdown hairstyle may make him think twice about throwing him straight back into the squad.

“He is fit, firing and ready to go, has trained really well,” said the Bolton boss. “He’s had a dodgy home haircut, though.

“Everyone is fine other than that. It’s amazing isn’t it that the treatment room is empty when the team is playing well and getting results. It’s one of the great mysteries of football.”

Kieran Lee also comes back into the squad after sitting out the midweek victory against Scunthorpe United.

Several players in the Wanderers squad have been affected by the shift in football season and, in some cases, the complete absence of pre-season training. As a result, Evatt says he must monitor when to use Lee and others like him, and when to bring them out of the side.

“I’d like to think, god-wiling, that if we progress down Boris’s roadmap like we should that things will be back to normality next year,” he said. “Kieran did not want to be taken out on Tuesday. That was my call, my decision, because I feel like he is that important to us.

“I thought that type of game would suit George (Thomason), help us dominate the ball, and it worked out that way.

“Other games we’re going to need Kieran, especially in some of the big, big ones coming up.

“We’ll wrap him in cotton wool. He’s had his little spa weekend where the physios have looked after him and painted his nails. He’ll be ready to go on Saturday.”
