Fook me, Friday afternoon and no match thread. The mods should all be sacked and Mo put in charge.

Away from home, playing a physical side, capacity home crowd - I only see one result. Home win.

Wimbledon 2-1 Bolton.

I reckon a draw will be a good result so i'm going 1-1. Santos needs to start though to shore up that defence.

It will certainly be a tough one and I’d tip us to win if we had a reliable goal scorer but in the two games so far plus the pre season ones, we still look just as lame up top as we did last season. Doyle hasn’t so far looked fit, Baka is a handful but not a serious goal threat and Dapo and Sarce still don’t fill me with confidence that they’re going to add many so all in all I think a draw is all we can reasonably expect. At the back I think IE may stick with last years partnership of Rico and Baps and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gillo back in goal. In midfield, I’d stick with MJ and Lee rather than Sheehan as I think Lee is more solid. Johnson and Sheehan will be on the bench just in case but I’d expect them to be kept back until Tuesday at Lincoln. I’ll go with 1-1 like you Norpig in another backs to the wall, nail biter.

If we’re going to win any away games this season this should be one of them. They’ve had a good start but from what I’m led to believe, from a Wimbledon fan, they’re a bang average bottom half L1 team.

I fully expect a win. I have gone for a conservative 1-0 win for the Wanderers only because Wimbledon has been paying attention to our style of play and will first and foremost try to be difficult to play against, but I can see us getting the W here.

Preview: AFC Wimbledon vs. Bolton Wanderers

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Wanderers prepare for their first away fixture of the 2021/22 season with a trip to Plough Lane to take on AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Both teams will head into the fixture with a fair amount of confidence following midweek victories in the Carabao Cup. Wanderers edged Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley on penalties at the University of Bolton Stadium after a goalless draw, and AFC Wimbledon were victorious against London neighbours Charlton Athletic, winning 1-0 at the Valley.

The Dons also got their league campaign off to a winning start, with a 2-1 victory at Doncaster Rovers last weekend, whilst Wanderers were held to a 3-3 draw at home to MK Dons.

Ian Evatt: “It’ll be a tough and difficult game. They have changed formations a few times and played different systems, so they’re a difficult team to prepare for. But, we know what we are going to have to do is show character and courage, and fight and battle. Hopefully, if we do that we can implement our own game style on them.”

Mark Robinson: “He (Ian Evatt) has done an incredible job. Their results were unbelievable after the start they had last season. They play really good football, and they’re really hardworking and on the front, so it’s going to be a really, really tough challenge.

“But, I think it’s great that we’ve got to play a club like Bolton on Saturday. No disrespect to any other club, but to play a club so rich in history is absolutely perfect for the monumental game that it is on Saturday”

Team News:

In his pre-match press conference, manager Ian Evatt has said he is happy with the squad of players he has to choose from heading to London. Ricardo Almeida Santos returned to the starting eleven on Tuesday evening and could retain his place in central defence on Saturday.

Impressive performances during the week from the likes of Elias Kachunga, Kieran Lee, and Lloyd Isgrove could see them push for places in the starting eleven.

Tickets and Travel

There are a small number of tickets remaining for Wanderers’ trip to AFC Wimbledon. The cut-off time for purchase is 4pm this (Friday) afternoon. Please note, should you purchase a ticket(s), you will have to collect them from the Ticket Office by 5pm this (Friday) afternoon.

How to Buy

Online – [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Phone – 01204 328 888

Unfortunately, our official coach travel has sold out.

For those supporters who would like a post-match drink then the Halfway House and The Earlsfield public houses right next to Earlsfield Train station accept away supporters and it is about a 10-minute walk from the stadium.

Please note: AFC Wimbledon NO longer play at Kingsmeadow, and are now at Plough Lane. The address for their new stadium is as follows: Plough Lane, London, SW17 0NR

Cashless at Plough Lane

For the weekend’s fixture, AFC Wimbledon will be testing a semi cashless Stadium. This means that most of the Stadium will only accept card payments apart from the club shop and Matchday Magazine sellers. Fans who turn up on the day with only cash will be able to purchase vouchers in denominations of £10 at the Matchday Magazine stalls which can then be used to buy food and drinks in the concessions.

Last Time Out

Wanderers have never faced AFC Wimbledon at the newly built Plough Lane, and the last visit to London to take on the Dons came in March 2020 when Keith Hill’s side travelled to Kingsmeadow. Neither team could find a breakthrough and had to settle for a point apiece and a goalless draw.

Yes it is of course, just thought the cock up was funny!

Wonder how many more times they will do that!?

Fwiw I've unbanned Wanderlust whilst the Chatbox is on - up to him if he returns but if he does and can control himself I might forget to reinstate the ban after the match is over...

Hope that seems fair to all?

Fairs fair, I think it’s harsh to ban people from threads unless they commit really bad offences. I’ve been banned twice now from WW after trying to defend myself from the oiks on there. It appears unless you’re one of Casino their moderators pals you get ditched. Actually it’s a wank site anyway full of knob heads who can’t hold an intelligent conversation on anything unless you agree with them, otherwise you’re eff and blinded at. 🥱

Fair result in the end.  We couldn't hold our wads and they piled it on so fair play.

As I said last week it will be a bit harder in league one than most people thought.  We still look a decent team overall so...... onwards.

At 3-1 up we should have had that game sewn up so we need to make sure we see games out, but i thought a draw before the game to be honest.

No need for any thanks and welcome back.

Just let's not go down the same path as we have before, that's all I ask.
