.....Have you heard of this? An amazing musical instrument that can be played without touching it!

It's been troubling me that I couldn't identify the source of the wonderful sound made half-way through "Why Should I Cry For You" on Sting's superb Live in Berlin album featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

I'll add the track to the music thread, but can't find the actual live performance of the individual song....just the soundtrack or the whole concert....

Well, I agree that example of the theremin was really boring! Apologies!

I should have used this instead, though it has problems half way through when the sound cuts out! Back to the drawing-board....

Been around since long before I was born. Seem to remember some guy playing it on Saturday Night at the London Palladium or similar back in the 60s....Bonce will know for sure. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of crap acts Smile

Theremin was a genius,(and a spy) and lived quite a life. The Day The Earth Stood Still, one of my favourite movies, is enhanced hugely by his remarkable instrument.

The Pixies used a theremin from time to time to help create their spacey sci-fi soundscapes but most noticeably on their Velouria single. A great band, tune and video.
