bolton - Bolton wait on Gillingham decision over second bid for Kyle Dempsey 13389527

Gillingham say they have not accepted any bid for captain Kyle Dempsey.

Wanderers are keen to bring the 26-year-old midfielder to the UniBol and are understood to have lodged a six-figure offer last week.

There has not yet been an official rejection from the Gills, who welcomed Dempsey back into the side for their weekend defeat against Burton Albion. But the situation remains in stalemate for now.

Part of the delay stems from the Kent club’s search for a manager following the departure of Steve Evans.

Chairman Paul Scally is reported to have held interviews this week, with caretaker manager Steve Lovell admitting he had “no idea” if he would still be in charge when the team travel to Wigan on Saturday.

Bromley manager Andy Woodman is the current favourite for the post, with local reports claiming he has been given permission to speak to the club.

Meanwhile, Wanderers have confirmed that the 1,700-ticket allocation for the February 5 game at Morecambe sold out within three hours on Tuesday morning.

Sources at Morecambe have confirmed to The Bolton News that no visiting side has sold out the away end faster this season.

The away allocation for this weekend’s game at Shrewsbury has also sold out despite the fact Bolton have lost their last seven league games on their travels, scoring just once.
