Wanderers’ hopes of making a late play-off push were dented against Burton last night, but how do the bookies rate their chances?

Ian Evatt’s men suffered a 3-1 loss against the Brewers following a disastrous opening 18 minutes at the Pirelli Stadium.

Dion Charles’ late goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation as the Whites’ seven-game unbeaten run came to an end.

The result leaves Wanderers 10th in the League One table - eight points behind sixth-placed Plymouth, who have played two games fewer.

According to Sky Bet’s latest odds, Bolton are expected to finish mid-table and are priced at 8/1 to make the top six.

The bookies predict that Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich and Portsmouth are all more likely to break into the play-off places than the Whites.

However, Wanderers are expected to finish above the likes of Charlton, Accrington and Burton come the end of April.

Of course, Evatt’s men went on a remarkable run in the second half of last season to finish third in League Two and clinch automatic promotion.

Here is a full list of Sky Bet’s latest top six odds

Wigan - 1/250

Sunderland - 1/3

Sheffield Wednesday - 4/11

Wycombe - 4/9

MK Dons - 4/7

Plymouth - 10/11

Oxford - 1/1

Ipswich - 3/1

Portsmouth - 6/1

Bolton - 8/1

Charlton - 33/1

Accrington - 50/1

Burton - 80/1

Cheltenham - 200/1

That's 9 teams who currently have better odds than us so we're going to have to up the ante again - even through the winter months ahead.

Is it just me who think we aren't ready for another promotion? I would happily settle for a mid season finish this season and look to push on next season.
