No, I'm not talking about the made up shit from the likes of Brightside but a couple of recent story's when jokes (ok they were in bad taste - but they were still only jokes) have been punished way beyond anything reasonable to my mind.

The first was a couple of days back when a civil servant was foung guilty of going on to wikipeadia, in works time and changing an entry.

Big deal!

The thing was it was on the Hillsborough tribute page and he changed the line 'you'll never walk alone' to you'll never walk again.

Offensive to some - yes - but did it really mean he should have been sacked?

Ok, that wasn't the only shit he posted but unless he had other warnings we do not know about, should this 'wumming' be sufficient to cost some one his career - or is it simply just because of the 'site' he posted it on?

Could you ever imagine anyone ever being sacked for slagging off Bolton Nuts on wiki - that is if we ever had an entry on there in the first place!

The second story is about a couple who threw some bacon into a mosque and got a year in prison for doing it!

Do you think they would have got a prison sentence if they lobbed it into a synagogue? Or would a team of muslims get a year for say nicking the lead off the roof of your nearest church - I somehow doubt it.

So in these two cases does the punishment really fit the crime - or is it a case of gross over reaction to appease the PC liberal hearted?

I know what I think.

In the first case the civil servant was from Liverpool. I wouldn't be surprised to find that he is an Everton fan. Still in very poor taste but he didn't kill anyone. I guess the relatives of those that died didn't see the funny side but I bet he never took their feelings into account when he altered the text.

There was an incident on Big Brother the other night where a girl (from Bolton, incidentally) made a joke about a Christian girl in the house "shagging Jesus".

When Jade Goody called Shilpa Shetty "Shilpa Poppadom" it became a worldwide racism storm.

Can you begin to imagine the reaction if you replaced the word Jesus with Muhammad and it was in reference to a muslim girl?

Have you been following her progress Doffy? She is a nasty piece of work with a foul mouth on her. She might have got a pass to the final but she must be on her final warning for her bullying behaviour.

PS. The Christian girl is a mardarse. When Jale was discussing porn films she ran off! No underwear model I have ever heard of would be that naive. Never.

nothing would happen. Islam is a religion of peace.

I've watched it all so far RT.

Horrible bitches like Helen are usually voted out by week 4, so I'm glad she's through to the final. People like that make the show in my opinion.

I read last week that Danielle is nothing like the person she's making herself out to be. It seems her good little virgin, Christian, businesswoman persona is all an invention. Can you believe somebody would just make something up like that?

I am frankly shocked and amazed that someone as obviously intelligent and articulate as Doffy is an avid Big Brother fan........

It just shows......

I'm hooked on it as well. I find the dynamics in the house quite fascinating and all the deceit that goes with it.

I hadn't read that but I don't buy her goody two shoes, deeply devoted Christian virgin persona. She models lingerie so something doesn't add up. She won't win it.

Helen Wood was one of the two slappers from Bolton than Rooney was tampering with.

She was indeed. She tried to bring it up last night but she has a gagging/restraining order because she told one of the others that she couldn't mention the name.

I wouldn't say avid.

Most of it is trashy and tedious, but seeing a set of lamentable people bitch, argue and have meltdowns is good TV in my book.

What usually spoils it is that the worst humans, i.e. the most entertaining housemates are voted out first, meaning by the last few weeks it's gone stale.

Fair play, RT & Doffy.

I just can't see the appeal of watching a bunch of vacuous wannabees trying to out-do each other in a sterile environment for three months.

I watched the first series with that baldy slapper from Bolton and Nasty Nick and it was quite interesting to see how they all gradually imploded and turned on each other.

But I haven't watched it since because I think as time has gone on, it's lost its unique appeal - basically, when it first came out it was a genuine look at how we function as a species, whereas now, it's just a vehicle for feckless weirdos to try and get their 15 minutes in the sun.

Each to their own, though.
