Alex Baptiste has joined Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan.

The defender, who joined the club last summer after five years with Blackpool, made 43 appearances in all competitions for Wanderers during the course of the 2013/14 campaign, scoring four goals.

The 28-year-old will be ineligible for Wanderers’ games against Blackburn this coming season as part of his loan agreement.

Watch him play a blinder for them this season at center back.

We've missed a trick by not letting him play against us.

He's good for a couple of penalties at least.....

I feel I don't have much confidence in Freedman with him signing players and then after a season either loaning them out or letting them go.

Does he really know what he is doing?

Why has he done this deal?

Probably to free up his "eye-watering" wages - The reason he came to Bolton and not Derby.  Sam Rush, the Derby chairman stated at the time: ""There is a difference between ambition and bad management. I don't think Derby fans would have thanked me for bringing him in on that kind of money." - It appers we were happy paying it

If that's the case then Dougie isn't helping matters either then with bringing players in on high wages...

Unless Gartside has done the deal .

Well something happened fast. Andrews and Eaves didn't go on tour to sort their moves out, so for Baptiste not only to go but risk playing the day before a year long loan suggests the move was only put together last night / this morning.

I feel a bit sorry for Baptiste as he didn't play in what apparently is his best position of center back.

The way he played his last couple of matches - and in the friendly he seemed to only be second choise full back (if you studied the starting line ups for both halves it looked to me as though each half they started with two first teamers and two reserves per half) then I guess it is as well the move came for everybody's benefit as Freedman had lost faith in him and I suspect visa-versa too.

I'm not sure if him getting arrested had anything to do with the deal being rushed through perhaps?

Who did Nolan 'allegedly' chin before Gartside sold him to Newcastle?

I can't remember.

It must be to do with wages or the way he ended the season and dougie has lost confidence in him. He should have been given a chance at centre back last season as well.

Are you thinking of Andy Todd and Phil Brown perhaps?

Well at least he's not just sitting on the wage bill and we can't shift him. Shame he wasn't up to it but not every signing comes off, definitely won't go down as a good bit of business though. Seems as if Dougies putting his faith in the youngsters to provide enough cover at full back then which is really encouraging.

I think the points he rashly threw away was a factor - that and the fact that young Threlkeld is looking the part and is going to be cheaper.
