I'm looking at starting to use a safety razor, I'm sick of paying 10quid for blades that last about 6 shaves.

Does anyone on here use a safety razor? If so which brand would you recommend.

Cheers.

Wilkinson sword Hydro 5. Used to use Mach 3 but the blades didn't last. Very happy with the Hydro. Great shave.
Safety razors suck in general.

Gillette Blue Two.

The fixed head ones with the green lubri-strip.

£3.69 for 8 in Tesco:

I've used all sorts over the years but I've settled on these.

Even when they're losing their edge, they don't cut you and I always get a decent shave.

Safety razors cut me to pieces. Bought some from the pound shop and ended up spending another 4 quid on plasters.

This is the type I'm meaning fella's I've got a Mach 3 but just think the blades are ridiculous for what they are. I'll give them disposable ones a try though.

Don't get Bic.

As Bonce says, you'd be safer (and probably get a better shave) using one of their biros.........

The hydro 5 blades last twice as long as the Mach 3. I tried the safety jobbies myself but found them to be a false economy.

Even though I've got a beard, I use the Gillette ones . So pissed off with the prices going up and up. Might try the Wilkinson ones next time.

I've reached an age where I don't really care. Don't go to the barbers any more,I just cut bits off when it gets a bit windswept. Bought one of those home hair cutters a few years ago but the first attempt made me look like Max Wall,so I kicked that into touch.

I married a Barber's daughter.

Haven't paid for a haircut for 17 years.

When he croaks, it's gonna cost me a fortune.

He did me a full-on wet shave (hot towels and all that stuff) during the early days of our relationship and it was going great until he pulled the towel off my face and I saw him in silhouette with the light behind him with a cut throat razor in his hand and he said:

"So, my little girl.....what are your intentions then?"

Top bloke full of funny stories about cutting hair in Salford in the 60's and 70's though.

We had one up Tonge Moor in the 60's called Mad Jack.

Only went once.

As a lad I went to a barber called Jack near Wogdin. He used to cut hair with a fag dangling out the side of his mouth, and we used to come out covered in a mixture of Brylcream and ash. He was cheap though.

He had a nice 'tache though.......

Although it was a bit weird having your hair cut by a Gomez Adams clone in cycling shorts.....

Froggy's in Bromley Cross used to fill kids with terror.
Cut my ear quite badly the first time and I begged my mum not to take me again.
His name became synonymous with the Bogie Man - "Behave or you're going to Froggy's for a bowl cut"
