Two poor teams at the moment.

The Raiders are O and three and look terrible (almost Redskin-esque in their ineptitude.)

But The Dolphins aren't much better.

Close game which could go either way for me and will probably be decided by a couple of defensive mistakes.

Probably right.
Dolphins have lost 2 in a row,but both games were up for grabs until the latter stages.
Should be better than what's on offer at the Macron lately though.

Shows that I know even less about NFL than I do about proper football.

And I know fuck-all about proper football.........

I had the Raiders winning by 10.
It's a funny old game.

Good game though.

You watching the Eagles - Niners game?

The Eagles defense are on fire.

Good call.

I'm working from home now, so the only annoying workmate I have to put up with is a chocolate Labrador who demands to be taken out every so often but he's easily distracted and doesn't give me much trouble.

And he's possibly more intelligent than a lot of the people I've worked with over the years and certainly easier to manage.

If only I could have got them to do what I wanted by dangling a gravy bone in front of them, I'd be the CEO of some mega-corporation by now......

Our springer was very similar.
Took her in Ladbrokes in Little Hulton once, and as we were walking home I noticed she had a Hampsons pie clamped between her jaws, still in the bag.
She must have grabbed some poor sods dinner while I,and obviously he,wasn't looking.
Couldn't take it back, for obvious reasons, and she wouldn't have let go of it anyway.
Between Ladbrokes and home she managed to devour the pie and the bag, with pretty impressive dexterity, then expected to be fed when we got in.
She was hell on 4 legs, but I miss her now she's gone.

I read somewhere once that Springers are notoriously mental and hard work to train.

But loyal and one of the best breeds to have, once they're sure that you're ok as an owner.

I like that idea.

It ensures that the partnership is equal.

As for our Humphrey, being "experienced Lab owners" after having had a black one for ten years, we took our Humphrey to the vet's to get the once over as a ten week old and he said "Have you ever seen a Chocolate guide dog?"

To which we both replied "Er, no actually....come to think of it."

He then said "Yeah, there's a reason for that......."

Mad as a box of frogs, but a great dog.

Never even thought about Chocolate lab guide dogs. I've never seen one either.
Wonder what makes chocolate labs barmy?

Too strong willed, apparently.

Absolutely no idea why, but it's certainly been born out with our Humph.

Training him was a nightmare.

I was on nights at the time and was woken up one morning at about ten o'clock after 2 hours kip to hear something heavy being dragged across the living room.

Turned out to be the settee.

And it was in about twenty pieces by the time I went to investigate.

He was sat there, all waggy tail and floppy tongue, as if to say "Look what I've done. Did I do good?"

You wouldn't want him escorting a blind lady across a road......

Funnily enough, my friend has a guide dog that is a black lab and is crackers!

I remember bringing home a meat pie from my local chippy one evening only to be distracted and put it on the dining table near the edge where our Australian Terrier (named Teabag!) decided to reach up and then scoff the whole thing including the bag it came in while my back was turned no more than 10 seconds! Laughing

Not sure I'd want a crackers guide dog, if I'm honest.

"Ooh, look! A bus! Let's chase it....!"

Woof, bark, swerve, crunch, blood, screams.....ambulance, where am I and why can't I feel my legs?

Interesting use of the word 'settee' in an earlier post Bread.
I was constantly being scolded for using that particular word, and was encouraged to use the word 'sofa' instead.
I still can't do it,but I appear to be in the minority.

We've got a "Dining Room" - Get me!

(The truth of the matter is, the kitchen's too small to fit a table in, so it lives in what my Gran would have referred to as our "Back Parlour".)
