Neil Lennon says the response after half time epitomised the character and resilience amongst his players following a 2-1 win over Blackburn at Macron Stadium.

Wanderers extended their unbeaten run to eight as Emile Heskey came on off the bench at the interval to level the scores, before Darren Pratley netted the winner shortly after.

“I thought it was a classic,” Lennon said after the match. “The football played was really open and it was a great advertisement for the Championship.

“I think on the balance of play you could argue that we were maybe a little fortunate to win the game.

“Whilst we created a few chances in the first half, I didn’t feel we were really at the races in the first half. Blackburn certainly had the better of it in the opening half.

“After half time I thought we were outstanding and that was largely down to Emile Heskey. He was superb.

“A lot of people raised their eyebrows as to why we brought Emile and Eidur in, but I think this afternoon they showed exactly what they are capable of.

“Emile not only impacted the team on the pitch, but his introduction lifted the entire stadium. He was a real outball for in the second half.

“We did tire a little bit with the personnel we have, but that is to be expected. The lads gave me everything.

“We shouldn’t forget that our goalkeeper Andrew Lonergan was once again fantastic. He’s made a couple of great saves in the first half. He’s in a very good place right now.

“There was a multitude of chances throughout, and I can understand if Blackburn feel a little aggrieved to not have come away from the game with anything.

“I was very pleased with our attacking performance today. We weren’t at our best defensively, but that said we had kept four clean sheets on the spin prior to today’s game.

“At times we maybe caused one or two of our problems, but the character and resilience of the team right now is fantastic.”

I love it when a manager sees and tells it as it is.
Ream was at fault for their goal but he dusted himself down and got on with it.
