Simeon Slavchev has been named in the Bulgaria national team for their upcoming UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Italy.

The on-loan Sporting Lisbon midfielder could potentially earn his fourth cap in the game in Sofia on Saturday 28 March.

Bulgaria can still qualify for next summer’s tournament, but after four qualifying games of Group H sit fourth behind Croatia, Italy and Norway. Malta and Azerbaijan make up the teams in Group H.

The top two teams qualify automatically, whilst third spot will ensure a play-off place.

Slavchev will depart for international duty following Bolton’s weekend game against Wigan.

well done lad...

So basically, we get to play him against wigan. Then wave goodbye because he will inevitably get his leg snapped in half.

That's quite a positive outlook for you Rebel, would have though you'd go for -

Once Putin invades Bulgaria he'll be called up for national service and have to retire from football.

Wonder if Iliev will influence Slavchev to join us next season if we can afford him?
