Jermaine Beckford’s early goal against Chesterfield gave Preston North End a 1-0 first leg lead as they look to win promotion the Championship.

Having missed out on automatic promotion to MK Dons after losing to Colchester United on the last day of the regular season, the Lilywhites took just six minutes to put that behind them at the Proact Stadium.

Running onto Chris Humphrey’s through-ball, the Jamaican international calmly chipped the ball over goalkeeper Tommy Lee to give his on-loan side the lead ahead of Sunday’s second leg at Deepdale.

He would have put that in the 10th row behind the net for us... got into so many good positions and scuffed or muffed most of those attempts.

Scored 2 in the 2nd leg as well. His 2nd was a great strike. Nutmegged a defender on the half way line, saw the keeper off his line and fired it into the top corner. Would have been even better if he hadn't fallen on his arse when he hit it.

Man of the Match.

Shame his contract's up because we could've conned a few quid out of PNE for him.

Ah well.......least he'll free up some wages for someone else.

Hopefully.

His goal scoring lately has has been nothing short of fantastic. The technique and touch on show has been brilliant. Bastard.

Third Division, Keegs - That's his level.

He's only ever been "prolific" in League One (for Leeds mainly).

The more i watch that goal the more it looks like some bizarre fluke. He slips as he shoots and the ball looks like it catches his standing (slipping) foot and gives it the trajectory. Otherwise it would have trickled out for a throw in.
