We stood strong about his wage demands and still managed to convince him to sign again. As long as he is the same player who he was under Lennon then this is a good signing.

if you had told me we were offering him a new deal 12 months ago i would have been amazed but his form under Lennon was great. Has he taken a pay cut?

He had a good half season.  Not sure 4 years is a smart move to be honest.

Well thank god for that!

Thought we were going to end up like Blackpool with about 3 players! Very Happy

Think it's as much Ipswich staying strong on wages as us to be honest.

Pratley is just the sort of player Lennon likes and understands having played a similar role himself. Prats form improved when he had other midfielders around him with the "hunting in packs" mentality rather than asking him to do all the donkey work on his own as Dougie did (so he could accommodate an extra "flair" player).
Under Dougie, Prats was left chasing shadows and it showed in his disciplinary record and late challenges, whilst Spearing and others he was partnered with posed around and simply didn't put in the workrate required leaving him outnumbered time and time again.
Last season Prats was given the support he needed to prevent teams passing around him and it showed. Given support, Prats is a very good signing IMO - depends on who ends up playing in midfield with him. That will come down to managing the obsession with "strikers" - somewhere along the line we have to have a combative midfield partnership that will protect the defence AND create. I think Lennon will get the balance right but it is always a compromise.

I'm pleased he's staying and wouldn't mind seeing him as Captain tbh.
