Keino was a fabulous runner, yep i remember Quax he was from New Zealand i think? Lasse Viren yes another hero, THEN the stories start, yep blood doping was the word at the time.

Cheating does seem to have gone on for a long time, More than one Olympic female athlte was found to be a man, or at least fail the sex test of the day.

I remember a major marathon once with huge prize money, were a guy shot down the tube station entrance and reappeared to win the race, later found out his twin reappeared out of the tube station.!!!

Now that may seem simple but both would have to be very good athletes, just think of this try running one mile on the track in under 5 minutes? its pretty tough to do, then look at a split at the end of a marathon when the leaders throw a 4.50 mile in at 25 miles insane pace. S you would have to be a really good runner even if you cheated.

Big day today - the Tour will be won - or lost.

Froome needs to defend his two and a half minutes lead up the iconic Alpe d'Huez and he wins the race (tomorrow no one attacks the leader).

ITV4 now to watch it live - watch the race build onwards and upwards to its ultimate climax.

Will Froome do it?

The British public don't seem to have taken Froome to their hearts. Seems a shame considering his achievements.
