Phil Parkinson believes Wanderers need to learn how best to use Kaiyne Woolery’s blistering speed.

The in-demand 21-year-old is pushing for a first-team start at Charlton after an encouraging performance against Fleetwood.

But the Whites boss admits his team are yet to come to terms with how to exploit Woolery’s pace.

“He wants to run in behind – that’s his game,” he explained. “Once the team understands that he’s not a Zach Clough who’ll come a bit deeper and be more intricate, he’s someone who wants that ball put in behind opposition defenders to chase.

“Kaiyne has got something that no-one else in this squad has got, raw pace, and we need to make sure we utilise it.”

The sale of Woolery looks even more ridiculous now. He had pace and strength, his replacement Anderson looks out of his depth.

Parkinson out.

i agree we shouldn't have let him go. just when he started to look like he was developing into a decent player. Didn't we only get 200K for him as well?

£200k is nothing compared to what he might have been worth given a proper run in the team.

Plus he was probably earning far less than Proctor, Madine, Anderson and all the other stumps.

Chump change and there must have been another reason that he got rid of him.  The fans thought he should stay... but Parkinson with the agreement of Anderson let him off for next to nothing.  Might be worth quite a bit one day!

He was the only pace we had, he would have been a good outlet for us, but got replaced by Liam Trotter wannabees.

You can't blame PP for Woolery being sold, he said multiple times he didn't want to lose any more players during the window. The decision to sell will have come from above.

Wasn't the extra money used to bring in Ameobi and Henry? If that is the case then I would think Parky definitely gave it the go ahead. He was planning on loaning him out anyway iirc to free up some extra wage money for a loan so he wouldn't be in the team anyway.

on the evidence so far i would have kept Woolery, neither Ameobi or Henry have shown they have been worth it yet
