After seeing his team narrowly denied a fifth consecutive victory in the league on Saturday afternoon, manager Phil Parkinson offered up his thoughts to the club’s website.

And speaking on a variety of topics, here is what he had to say…

On ultimately leaving the game with just one point as opposed to three…
We’ll take the point today. They’re a good side and of course we wanted all three, but a point away from home is not the worst scenario.

They had to make substitutions really because we didn’t allow them to get a foothold in the game and we restricted them to not a great deal of opportunities really.

Unfortunately, in the end, it’s just a shot from distance that’s gone in.

It’s a good strike from the lad and I’m sure that we’ll look at it on the way back and say we could have done better to restrict it, but it was a good effort to get them back in the game.

I was pleased again with the effort of the lads though – they gave us everything. We are still sat at the top of the league so it’s a great effort by the lads.

On the injury sustained by Mark Davies...
It was a massive blow for us, losing Mark Davies to injury like we did. It looks as though it’s a very serious injury and really just about sums up the luck we’ve had with injuries so far this season with the likes of Darren Pratley and Zach Clough.

It’s difficult to say right now exactly what we’re looking at, but we’ll take him for a scan and see where we go from there.

Suffice to say though, it’s not looking too good.

On Gary Madine notching his third goal of the season…
It’s great for Gaz – he’s in good form at the moment and he deserved his goal. It was a brilliant ball back from Liam too for the assist and he took it very well.

And on looking forward to Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy game and next Saturday’s league game against Southend…
We need to change the team around for the game on Tuesday in line with how the rules of the competition allow us to do that.

Hopefully though that will still see us put a team out that’s strong enough to win the game and start the group with a victory.

We have two league home games coming up too which will allow us to build on the marker that we’ve put down so far this season.

We’ll work hard this week and look to go again against Southend next Saturday.
