The Dwarf-planet, Pluto, now has a fifth moon which measures about 6 miles wide!!!!!

It was discovered by the Hubble telescope, only the other day. I am surprised RT has not mentioned it as I know he has an interest in planets.

Here is the full story.

I love this sort of stuff. I wish I'd been born 100 years later because I would love to visit other planets.

Believe it or not but you can see Venus and Jupiter in the night sky at the moment. There are a damn sight more planets out there and as we become more advanced new discoveries will reveal themselves.

We are definitely living through a completely brand new renaissance with regards to new discoveries in outer space :-)

I hope we discover life elsewhere before I die.

I don't think any of us can honestly say, hand on heart, that we're not fascinated by the number of moons around the Dwarf-planet Pluto.

Numpty, is that a serious comment or sarcasm?

In sarcasm, ridicule or mockery is used harshly, often crudely and contemptuously, for destructive purposes. It may be used in an indirect manner, and have the form of irony, as in "What a fine musician you turned out to be!", "It's like you're a whole different person now...", and "Oh... Well then thanks for all the first aid over the years!" or it may be used in the form of a direct statement, "You couldn't play one piece correctly if you had two assistants." The distinctive quality of sarcasm is present in the spoken word and manifested chiefly by vocal intonation.

Hope this answers the question, mate.

That's one way of putting it! Laughing

Whats most fascinating about pluto is that we are yet to get a proper picture of it's surface.

That blurry mess is the best we know.

Imagine if when we get there, there's loads of car parks.

Pluto wasn't discovered until 1930 and even though it has five moons it was declassified as a planet in 2006. I reckon it could be a ' Guantanamo' type holding area for pesky nomadic aliens.

I'm also fascinated by the idea of "terra forming" other planets.

Pluto has yet more moons 150px-MarsTransitionV

imagine the possibilities.

They wouldn't tell us if they found life on other planets as they figure mass hysteria would abound plus religious faith would be in trouble. They already know there's intelligent life in other systems as its been here already.

Very true. I would love to have a poke around in some of the cupboards inside the Official Secrets Act HQ.
