Going down to the wire tomorrow. Only 30 seconds in it!

Froome did what he had to do and will be crowned tomorrow.

Not the most domineering of his four Tour wins but probably the most enthralling to watch - the old guard of Contaor, Valverde and even Quintana and Froome - looking vulnerable with the next generation of riders like Bardet, Barguil and Roglic on the cusp of future greatness perhaps?

Froome was the best rider in the Tour - but not by much.

His highlight (which wasn't really talked about much) was last Sunday when his bike broke at the bottom of a mountain - when everyone attacked him.

Only Froome could have clawed everything back on that climb and be there with the bunch at the top - fantastic edge of the chair viewing!

Froome had the strongest team but it didn't steamroller everyone like it has done in the past.

It will be interesting to see the ins and outs of the riders in the cycling transfer window (which more or less opens now the Tour is over).

Anyway later today Froome will be crowned (and Bury lad Yates will follow his twin brother from last year in being crowned the best under 25 rider in the Tour - the White jersey).

Fantastic achievement really.

Froome has won the Tour of Spain - better known as Vuelta a Espana.

It's a massive achievement in that only two riders have ever won the Tour and Vuelta in the same year and non have won it since the Vuellta changed its date to being held after the Tour (up to 1995 it always scheduled before the Tour).

In cycling the Tour is THE blue ribbon race of the year - so if you ride the Tour you train to be in peak physical performance for it - so no one until now has managed to win the Tour and hold sufficient of their form to go on and win the Vuelta too.

Some people even skip the Tour to be the best they can for the Vuelta - so to win the Tour and then beat those who based their season around the Vuelta - is really an amazing performance.

Froome is not yet crowned, there is another days racing tomorrow - but tradition has it that the leader of the race is not attacked on the last day - he as sort of earned the respect of the other riders and it is their way of acknowledging the better man had won the race.

I know I'm more or less a lone voice on here when it comes to cycling - but it really is an amazing performance by Froome to win both the Tour and Vuelta in the same year and as a fellow Brit we should be proud of what he's achieved.
