Adam Armstrong believes Bolton is “buzzing” after victory over Norwich at the weekend.

The Newcastle United loanee, who scored his first league goal of the campaign in the 2-1 triumph, says it was a happy dressing room who disbanded for the international break.

Speaking to the club, Armstrong said: “It was massive to get the win – we knew we had a couple of weeks off after the match so we had to give it our all. We started a bit slow but we warmed up, stuck at it and got the win.

“It’s a massive boost. A couple of wins and a couple of draws gets you buzzing.

“Everyone is buzzing around the place, it feels good, and we can only move forward now.”

Armstrong’s place on the left side of attack had been under pressure during a goal drought which had lasted 13 league games, 11 of which had been starts.

But having opened his account at the 14th attempt the youngster is hoping to keep his place at Preston a week on Friday ahead of Craig Noone and Will Buckley.

Armstrong scored a superb solo goal on his debut at Deepdale for Barnsley last season and feels his team-mates have helped him through a difficult few weeks.

“I’m feeling alright, doing well,” he said. “It’s five unbeaten now so the lads are doing really well and they are helping me out with it.

“It’s pleasing to get the goal, which puts an extra topping on it.

“It feels good. The three points feels better, though, so we’ve got to push on now and look for Preston in a couple of weeks’ time.”
