Having opened his Wanderers account last weekend against Sheffield Wednesday, Aaron Wilbraham is eager to play his part between now and the end of the season.

With the Whites trailing at Hillsborough, the veteran striker headed home Filipe Morais’ looping cross in the 93rd minute to earn the Whites a vital point against the Owls, prompting mass euphoria in the away end from the travelling Bolton support.

Left cursing untimely injuries in a season which has seen him mainly utilised as a back-up option, Wilbraham is now determined to prove his worth between now and the end of the season as the Trotters look to secure their place in the Sky Bet Championship.

“It was great to get on to scoresheet last week,” the 38-year-old told bwfc.co.uk. “I know I can score goals, I always have done and is good to get one for Bolton.

“I’ve waited a long time for it and have not really had many chances when I’ve been coming on the pitch.

“Obviously, I’ve been not getting on for very long but now it was a great feeling to see the ball hit the back of the net, especially in front of the Bolton fans behind that goal, to secure another good point for the lads.

“Hopefully I can get a few more between now and the end of the season. We’re all working hard to keep the club in this division.”

Wilbraham continued: “There is competition for places all around the squad and I think everyone who gets the shirt is fighting to keep it and that is getting us results.

“We’ve now got a big game at home against Aston Villa. They are doing really well at the moment so we have to get build on these two good away results and good week’s training to try to get another good result heading into the international break.”

You had an open goal to win the game at Norwich. But you took out the guy in row Z.
