What was the name of that player who everyone wanted to have a chance in the 1st team, then went to Kilmarnock?

He's made one 3 minute substitute appearance in a league game for them so far.

Others from the classes of 2016 and 17

WILL JAASKELAINEN - Yet to make a first team appearance with Crewe

NIALL MAHER - Played just 9 league games with non league Halifax this season

OSCAR THRELKELD - Twenty-four appearances for League One this season - presently out of contract with them.

HAYDEN WHITE - At League two Mansfield, not played a league game for them this season.

and,

ROB HALL - Played four league games scoring a single goal for Oxford of League One this season.

Yet Wanderlust and Martin reckon the players from the class of 18 are ready to challenge for Championship places with us.

And they truly believe it's Parkinson who doesn't know what he's doing!!!

AKA not picked by a manager who doesn't give youngsters an opportunity?

Yes fans who never see him know better than management and coaches who watch them 8 hours a day.

What academy player we've had who "wasn't given a chance" (or offered a contract) here went onto stardom elsewhere.

Oh yes. That'll be zero.

Would this be the same manager who played a twenty year old in thirty games this season?

Antonee Robinson.

Apart from Blerim Dzmaili, Swiss international who was sold to Torino for £2 million, Aaron Mooy, Aussie international who left on a free transfer and is currently playing in the Premiership and potentially Rob Holding who was playing in Europe for Arsenal within weeks of us offloading him for peanuts. All three would walk into our team.

Dzemaili was an established player when Allardyce signed him not an academy propsect, his injury and change of manager cost him and us dearly.

Holding did get a chance that's what got him his move.

Mooy's a fair shout, so that's 1 in the last 15 years or so.

Eh - as TROY has said -

Dzemaili was a signing from FC Zurich by Allardyce, he played over a hundred times for them and was even their captain - he did his knee in after signing a pre-contract with us and was injured all the time he was under contract with us.  He wasn't ever an academy player as such.

Rob Holding was 'given a chance' and played 26 league games for us, scoring one goal, before selling him to Wenger's Arsenal, in order to fund our club at the time.

However -

Aaron Mooy in fact turned down a contract extension with us in 2010 -

Think Mooy probably had to move on to progress, been around the houses a bit to get there but he’s done well in the Premier League. We could do with signing a player like him this summer our midfield has been shite since Holden went.
