A Teemu Pukki brace and goals from Marco Stiepermann and Emiliano Buendia see Wanderers defeated at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After the final whistle, manager Phil Parkinson spoke to bwfc.co.uk and covered these topics…

On his assessment of the game as a whole…

“We got beat by a very good side today.”

“They were right at the top of their game, but we can do much better.

“Some of their goals and approach play were out of the Premier League calibre, not top of the Championship.

“To get a result against a team like Norwich, everything has to go perfectly, in terms of staying on your feet when you are closing down, tracking and staying with runners and in that aspect, we were off it today.

“We got punished for that by a very good side.

“I saw them play against Preston and they could have won that game.

“Pukki had three or four one on ones similar to today, but he didn’t take his chances on that occasion.

“Today, he finished his chances in clinical fashion.

“I think going into the game against Birmingham on Tuesday, if someone would have offered us three points out of these two games, we’d have taken it.

“We are still in touching distance with the sides around us.

“We need to look at what we could have done better and go to Leeds believing we can get something from the game.

“The fixtures in the following month are favourable for us going forward and we will give ourselves a decent chance of staying in the division.”

On conceding early making it an uphill battle…

“Their away form has been outstanding and have been very clinical.”

“They are at the top for a reason, because they are such a good side.

“Being 3-0 down at half time is always tough but the lads stuck at it to the end.

On moving on from this performance and going again at Leeds United…

“We have to and there is still only a three point gap.”

“Rotherham have drawn, Reading have lost and we need to dust ourselves down and go again.”
