Wanderers are likely to name a youthful squad as they travel to York City for their opening pre-season friendly.

Phil Parkinson will bring a handful of first team players to Bootham Crescent but it is understood there will be late fitness checks on midfielder Luke Murphy, who has had a slight calf strain, and Josh Magennis, who has only returned to training this week after international duty.

Scholars will make up the majority of the squad and it is possible one or two trialists could also be brought in to make up the numbers.

Parkinson is expected to name a different XI in both halves of the game for their first run-out of the summer.

According to our website if Murphy and Magennis don't play the only first team  outfield players left on the clubs books are Oztumer, Jason Lowe and Connor Hall.
If will be interesting to see if those 3 plus some under 23s and  under 18s  are good enough to beat a tier 6 side which is what York are.

York lost 5-0 at home to Leeds this week, no shame in that, one of the York players playing against Leeds looks two stone overweight
