I've been using the the blue disposable ones when I've needed to wear one.

I don't like the look of them and would appreciate if any of you have reusable  washable ones that fit well and that you would recommend.

I use the reuseable ones, have from the start actually.

Bought myself 6 for £10 from a supermarket that advertised them for sale at cost price.

I've never needed to buy any others since.

Are they a good fit - tbh I don't suppose they are any different from the normal blue ones (when I had my first jab I had to take my mask off and was given one of those to wear to go inside).

What I did find out by accident once was one of my masks ear loops came apart and a simply tied it up again - but in doing so made the loop that bit tighter to my ear and thus inadvertently made the mask a tighter fit.

I guess you have to go with what you believe is best for you whether it be disposable or reuseable.

I once read somewhere that masks followed the 80/20 rule namely they gave protection to others from you of 80% and protection to you from others of 20%.

I don't know how true that is but it sort of makes sense to me in that the masks really are about 'catching' your breath/droplets rather than blockin theirs - simply because the masks aren't clinical and face fitted.

You might want to send a pm to y2johnny who is in the facefit business as he no doubt can give you much better insight that what I have but the bottom line to me (even after having both my jabs) is keep my distance from people as much as I possibly can and stay away from inside settings if at all possible.

I know it is easier said that done so though at times.

Stay safe whatever you decide though.

This does me. Wear it round the neck, then pull it up when needed.

That's not an old scarf. It's a face covering snood. I've got the mask as well.

You have to remember Cajun that these masks are not a fashion statement. I also think those surgical masks are shit for protection.

I use a GVS Eclipse mask which is a half mask respirator made out of rubber. These have filters you can replace.

The Mrs uses a black fabric one that has a pocket to add a filter in although she doesn't have one in it. I wouldn't feel confident wearing something like this but she still hasn't caught COVID yet.

Johnny is a good one for advice on masks if he comes on and sees this thread.

Thanks everyone, still thinking about what to get.

The more you research, the more you get confused.

Blue surgical masks, cloth Face coverings, kn95 and anything with ear loops are classed as a face covering. These are worn to protect others from you, not for your own protection.

Masks like KP has shown (the GVS Elipse) will protect you, but in order for it to protect others from you, you need to keep the exhalation valve covered with a fCe covering over it.

Disposable RPE with little round valves on are the same as the one KP has shown.

Personally, I've been using an adidas one but I've fed a paperclip through the top seem so I can mould it around my nose and stop my glasses steaming up.

The adidas ones are from JD sports

Just to add, the masks like KP wears aren't gauranteed to fit and protect you, hence why they need facefittesting. Plus wearing them with facial hair also compromises the seal.

It is Norpig and we have missed someone fun to join back in.

Makes a nice change for Johnny to drop in considering all we have had on the forum lately is the usual wankathon. Very Happy
