'It didn't work out for either party' - Evatt on Brandon Comley 13074570

Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has explained his decision to allow midfielder Brandon Comley to leave the club.

The Montserrat international arrived at the UniBol in the summer of 2020 and went on to make 15 appearances for the Whites.

Comley terminated the remainder of his Bolton deal, which was set to expire in June 2022.

Evatt had nothing but positive things to say about the midfielder but insists his decision to leave was best for both parties.

“Brandon came in and was part of a team at the start which was very difficult for all of us,” said the Bolton boss. “We stumbled through to January and made changes to the team.

“And I’d argue his position has been the strongest part of the squad with the emergence of George Thomason, MJ (Williams), Kieran (Lee), Tuttey (Andrew Tutte), now Josh (Sheehan) and we had Sarce (Antoni Sarcevic) at the time.

“It was very challenging for Brandon. Sometimes it happens in football and it didn’t really work out for either party.

“But I do wish him well for the future and hope he finds another club, and goes on to play regular football again.”

Comley’s only first-team appearance this season came against Liverpool Under-21s in the Papa John’s Trophy.

The midfielder was left unregistered by Wanderers at the end of the summer transfer window, which means he can sign for a new EFL club in January or one outside the league immediately.
