Wanderers Move Towards Cashless Stadium
New payment and parking systems in place for 2022/23 season

The University of Bolton Stadium and Bolton Stadium Hotel will continue the process of going cashless for the 2022/23 campaign and beyond.

With a range of new systems in operation from Wanderers’ pre-season fixture against Huddersfield Town this Saturday, the aim is to deliver a more efficient, speedy and hygienic service across the site.

All car parks, concourse kiosks, coffee carts and hospitality areas will now be accepting card payments only.

The new Fanzone, Club Store, Ticket Office, Bolton Stadium Hotel bars, programme selling points and Lottery sellers will continue to accept cash payments as required.

Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer of Bolton Wanderers said: “Our overall aim is to keep improving the experience for supporters when they visit the University of Bolton Stadium.

“Continuing the process of going cashless will reduce queue waiting times across the board, ultimately delivering a better match day experience for our supporters. And, for the club, taking cash out of the equation will help to streamline our weekly processes and better invest staff time improving other elements of club operations.

“We are looking forward to welcoming fans back to the stadium over the coming weeks and we hope these simple and straightforward cashless systems, alongside the other upgrades made over the summer, will bring an enhanced experience for all those who visit the stadium”.

Cashless car parking at the University of Bolton Stadium

Parking on all car parks at the University of Bolton Stadium will be cashless from the start of the 2022/23 season.

In an effort to modernise the club’s parking system and ease congestion on a match day, new ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology, managed by Parking Eye, has been installed at the University of Bolton Stadium. The technology will be in activation from the Huddersfield pre-season friendly fixture on Saturday 23rd July.

Please see below for a comprehensive breakdown of how the new parking system will work for supporters and visitors on both match days and non-match days:

The club primarily encourages supporters and other visitors to utilise [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for match day payments. The portal allows users to register their number plate and payment details and once registered, the ANPR cameras will recognise the number plate as the vehicle enters into the stadium car park and payment will automatically be taken.

The vehicle will then be recognised every time it enters the car parks – so there’s no need to register and pay every time or to visit a kiosk to make payment.

More information here.

PayByPhone app

Payment can also be made via the PayByPhone app, which is available to download for free on mobile phones. The app is easy to use and payment can be made at any time up until midnight on the day of parking. Supporters and other visitors can also pay via the PayByPhone website or by calling 0330 400 7275.

Please click here for more information on how to pay via PayByPhone.

Please note that unlike the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] online portal, supporters will need to make payment via PayByPhone every time they enter the car parks.

Pay via car park kiosk

In addition to the above options, supporters can also simply make a contactless card payment via one of the payment kiosks that will be in place in all car parks. Payment must be made on departure.

Match day parking fees

£8 per vehicle for more than two hours, as per previous seasons. Full details will be displayed on tariff signage situated throughout the car parks.

Seasonal car park passes

Seasonal car park passes for Car Park C have now been discontinued.

Supporters who held car park passes during the 2021/22 season will now need to pay £8 per match as per other car park users.

Lower Concourse Disability Access Car Park

Seasonal car park permits will remain in place for disabled supporters at the cost of £184 for the season.

A physical permit will be issued to those who purchase a seasonal permit on the Lower Concourse car park. Supporters are asked to carry these to every game so car park stewards are able to direct permit holders to the correct car park.

Car registration details will also be taken at the time of booking with one car registration per seasonal permit. Permits can be renewed by calling 01204 328 888 or by visiting the Ticket Office in person. Supporters have until 5pm on Wednesday 3rd August to renew their permit for the Lower Concourse car park.

Hospitality guests

Hospitality guests will continue to have car parking included in their match day packages. For further information regarding car parking as a hospitality guest, please contact the Commercial Department on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or 01204 673761.

Non-match days
On non-match days Car Park A only will be operational for visitors to the Stadium where non-match day tariffs will apply and will be displayed on signage boards throughout the car parks.

Hotel residents

Hotel residents will continue to be exempt from charges. On arrival at hotel reception, guests will provide their registration number to qualify for free parking for the duration of their stay.

Pure Bar customers

Pure Bar Customers will also be exempt from car parking fees. On purchase of food and beverages at the bar, customers will be asked to provide their registration number to receive free parking that day (this does not apply on match days, where charges are applicable).

Week day conference guests

Week day conference guests will receive a unique QR code for the event they are attending which will be provided on arrival to ensure exemption from charges.

I very rarely have cash on me these days so no problem for me. You could pay by card at the kiosks last season.

What a load of shite. This is the clubs biggest mistake since they refused my suggestion to make fat people pay for two seats.

A club that clearly isn't flush decides to stop people paying in cash, you know, the way they've paid since football began.

Madness.

Shazza & Evans out.

You idiot, think of the old folk.

90 year old Walter wants a drink and a programme but doesn't believe in credit cards. What does he do?

Poor Walter.

He can't carry a flask and a lunchbox all the way from Chorley, it's a long walk for a 90 year old.

Walter has been screwed.

Just because Mrs Pig has started playing hard to get, don't presume Mrs Walter is the same. They have sex every Thursday after Pointless.

Hope getting off the car park is easier. Once Tyrers buses start moving you can turn the engine off for a bit.

I have no problem paying everything by card and to be fair the ANPR is a simple and expanding system but I’m struggling to see exactly how it assists getting off the car park after a match?
