'We're still open for business' - Evatt drops transfer hint at Wanderers 14371693

Wanderers are still open for business in the final few weeks of the transfer window.

Ian Evatt predicts there will be movement before the September 1 deadline in BOTH directions, should things go according to plan.

Bolton have already brought in Jack Iredale and Eoin Toal on permanent deals and added Liverpool’s Conor Bradley and Manchester City’s James Trafford on loan.

And though Evatt is happy with the work he has done to date, he confirmed that the club is still actively looking for players who can improve the squad.

Asked if he would be looking to make more signings, he said: “I don’t think we’ll be inactive is more what I’d rather say.

“I’m happy with what we have got, but obviously there are always likely to be ins and outs towards the end of a window, and I believe there will be more with this window.

“Whether that comes to fruition, we will see, but the closed sign is not up yet. We are still very much trying to be proactive and improve where we can.”

Evatt has managed to tie captain Ricardo Santos down to a longer contract and keep hold of prized assets like Dapo Afolayan despite reported interest from elsewhere.

As such, the Bolton boss feels it has already been an encouraging transfer window if no further deals were one.

"I think predominantly it's been a pretty good one,” he said. “I think everybody is fairly satisfied with Conor Bradley at the moment. I think Jack Iredale has proven what he can do and recruited Traff was obviously also important.

"It's been a good window. I've said before the window's not over yet, so we'll see what happens, but it's always important with every transfer window to come out of it stronger than you started and I think we've done that."
