Accrington boss John Coleman makes Bolton promotion claim 16067272

Accrington boss John Coleman reckons Wanderers have “a good chance” of winning promotion this season.

The Whites currently sit fourth in the League One table ahead of tomorrow night’s trip to the Wham Stadium.

Coleman says Ian Evatt’s men have been “very impressive” at times this term and is expecting a difficult challenge.

But the Reds boss says his side will be “throwing everything” they have in a bid to reach Wembley for the first time.

“We took a two-goal lead against Bolton here and let ourselves down,” said Coleman. “We had different players playing that day, and they did as well.

“But I have seen them over the season, they are very impressive. They are very consistent in what they do, top of the charts in most things they do. Just now and again they have a blip, and we have got to hope they a blip tomorrow and we find our feet.

“We have the confidence from the win on Saturday and we take it forward. It’s a 90-minute game and we will be throwing everything we’ve got at it. I know they will as well.

“They have got good players and a good manager, who has assembled a really good squad. They have got a good chance of getting out of this league.

“It will be a cracking atmosphere, they will bring a lot of fans. No matter how many fans we have, our fans will be brilliant as well.

“We know it’s a really tough game, we know how good they are. But we know how good we can be, and when we get it right we are good.”

Coleman’s side recorded a 1-0 victory against Shrewsbury at the weekend, with Brentford loanee Aaron Pressley on target.

The result saw Stanley climb out of the relegation zone as they aim to maintain their League One status.

Pressley has scored four goals in 10 games since his arrival at the Wham Stadium, and Coleman is enjoying working with him.

“He is clever, his link-up play is good. He has got that huger to score goals,” the manager explained.

“He is a cracking lad as well and he is hungry to learn. That is they type of player we need at this club.”
