'That changed the game' - Bolton defeat tough to take for Taylor 17419044

Matt Taylor felt his Shrewsbury side did a lot right against Wanderers but was left ruing a costly error for the opener.

Marko Marosi spilled Paris Maghoma’s strike, allowing the ball to trickle over the line. George Thomason might have got a slight touch on the way in.

Aaron Morley wrapped up the result in the eighth minute of stoppage time after some good work by Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Dan Nlundulu.

Taylor was pleased with his side’s work out of possession but admits the first goal is usually crucial in these types of games.

“The performance was good up until an error, which is uncharacteristic for Marko,” he said. “He has been brilliant since I have been here and he’s been a fantastic servant to the football club.

“That changed the game, the first goal in this league is hugely important. We go on and give away a second goal, slightly naively.

“But for large parts of the game, I thought we were excellent out of possession. When we have got it, you always want to be better of course. But in terms of effort and performance, really good.

“An error cost us and you can’t shy away from that, you have to accept it and move on from it. That is the disappointing thing for us tonight because it is uncharacteristic.

“But up until that point, we dominated in terms of final third entries, corners and the areas of the pitch you want to be in. We didn’t make those territorial advantages count, but we were playing against one of the biggest and best teams in the league.

“For us not to come away with at least a point, it is really difficult right now with the emotion as raw as it is.”

The result sees Wanderers move level on points with second-place Oxford, having won four matches in a row on the road. Meanwhile, Shrewsbury remain 19th in the table and three points above the drop zone.

Very little from our front two again apart from a lot of chasing around. Charles does make a nuisance of himself but rarely does the ball stick with either of them. In the end it was Bodvarsson that made the difference when he was eventually brought on to help secure a result against a poor team that had gifted us a narrow lead.

Made hard work of it until the keeper threw one in. I'll take it though.
Still not sure about Dan the Man. Plays like a man with his pants round his ankles.

That's why he's so rubbish, you were his coach!
