Bolton Wanderers B beat Blackpool in Central League

Bolton kids get their first win of the season??? 17627342

Wanderers left it late to record a hard-fought 2-1 win against Blackpool in the Central League at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

Sam Nyame opened the scoring for the Seasiders but the Whites hit back through Finlay Lockett after the break. Eric Yoro completed the comeback with a last-gasp winner.

Lockett’s early cross caused problems for Matteo Spinelli but the Blackpool goalkeeper did well to palm it away in the swirling wind.

Wanderers then had a nervy moment at the back when Charlie Hayes-Green’s backpass didn’t quite reach Jack Flint, who just about managed to clear the danger. It quickly became clear that the pitch could cause problems for both sides.

Blackpool went in front when Nyame slotted home from close range after the Whites were undone by a free kick near the corner flag.

Wes Frimpong picked out Trevon Bryan but his strike was blocked by a defender as Bolton searched for an immediate response.

Lockett continued to look lively on the left flank and his delivery dropped for Yoro at the far post, but the defender couldn’t get a shot away.

Blackpool continued to pose a threat from set-pieces, with Ezra Amadi-Emina seeing an effort deflected wide of the post. Luke Mariette tried his luck from the resulting corner but failed to keep his shot down.

Tavio Ciccarelli was then inches away from tapping home a second after a dangerous attack down the left wing.

At the other end, Spinelli did well to rush out and clear his lines as Ben Andreucci raced to get on the end of Yoro’s long ball over the top.

Zak Emmerson had the ball in the net after going round Flint on the stroke of half time, but the offside flag had already gone up.

Blackpool should have doubled their lead early in the second half but Emmerson misjudged a low cross from the right, the pitch perhaps playing a part.

Moments later, Lockett’s wicked cross looked like it might head straight in but Spinelli managed to get something behind it.

The Bolton wideman soon had the goal that his performance deserved, producing a lovely strike that nestled in the top corner after cutting onto his right foot.

Arran Pettifer then got into a dangerous position on the right but Spinelli managed to get a foot to his cut-back before it fell to a team-mate in the box.

There was plenty of drama in the final stages, with Flint making a heroic stop to keep out Dannen Francis’ bullet header before Yoro smashed home from close range at the death.

Flint, Frimpong, Halford, Yoro, Hayes-Green, Inwood, Pettifer, Tweedley, Bryan (Loureiro), Andreucci (Abimbola), Lockett (Fleury). Unused: Dallimore, Toure.
