Knight Update...

UPDATE - Here is the Knight/Wigan fiasco. I think Nebular may have already done this a bit...

Inspired by (I think) Hipster Nebular and my previous Zat Knight post- I decided to do this with captions instead of a video...

I hope you can all see what I mean. The same mistakes are made in every match and exactly the same thing happened for at least one of the Wigan goals this weekend - that is coming soon.

It's just abysmal but it is the sort of thing that is happening in every game. Have the coaching staff seen it? If so, why have they not worked on it?

I have seen kids get this coached out of them at the academy - why is the first team not getting it?

Good post JayJay but I kind of knew long ago that Knight was a bloody useless defender - I said so at the time we bought him - when more 'knowledgeable' posters than I told me I hadn't a fucking clue what I was talking about!

Funnily enough they were the same posters telling me I was completely wrong about my opinion of Coyle's lack footballing acumen too!

Anyway, fantastic stuff JayJay – more match analysis in the future please if you can find the time.

Yeah, I know lot's of people can see how many mistakes he does make but I still feel as though the coaching staff have not caught on. It's obvious when a defender mis kicks or mis tackles or stumbles or makes a glaring error but the more subtle things seem to go unnoticed - illustrated by Knights blaming other defenders for the Norwich goal when his OWN positioning and awareness was all off. It's as if he still doesn't realise that he is making mistakes. Mistakes which should have been brought to his attention by now.

Well he's 31 so if he doesn't know the game by now - he never will do.

I think in football you either have a footballing brain or you don't. I've seen lesser gifted players with the ability to instinctively 'know where to be' play superbly, whilst others who are magnificent athletes simply run around like headless chickens.

The best spell Knight has had with us was when he was partnered by Ricketts. I'm guessing Ricketts took responsibility and 'told' him what to do and where to go.

Knight usually switches off in a match at some time or other - simply because he's not got that natural ability to rely upon.

Would like to see ream replace him, problem is what if Knight turns out to be better?

I love how Knight keeps coming out in the media saying all this crap and making out like he is the one who isn't making the mistakes week in week out: -

"Everybody is a bit p****d off. One or two individuals weren't up to scratch and as a team we did not gel," stated Knight.

"I am not going to pick people out, but everybody knows who they are and we are going to have to look at ourselves.''

Cracking bit of work there JJ. you've actually caught what we have all seen on more than one occassion. I've always thought he was a lazy player, but he seems to have aquired a 'not my ball' attitude to go with it. Adding idleness to own goals isn't a good combination. Time to let him go.
