I was sat watching a DVD last night when it began to pixelate and freeze, as though it was scratched or dusty. You know what it's like, we've all been there. There's nothing worse when you're drunk and comfortable.
But when it happens, do you find yourself thinking, there was none of this shit with videos. You could kick the crap out of a video and still get a picture out of it. DVDs need way more caring for. Is it worth it for the extra quality?

especially on those parts of films you had freeze framed too many times to enjoy in more detail Wink

I don't know anyone who still owns a video recorder. They were great at the time but they took up a lot of space. Modern DVD's are much smaller and neater and the skip facility is much better than having to fast forward or rewind like you had to with video tapes.

I think you are on your own doffcocker.

The only problem with DVDs, like all technology it seems, is that I am going to have to upgrade to a Blu-ray player as increasingly things are released in Blu-ray only formats.

I used to love going to the video shop as a kid, the smell of popcorn as you walked through the door was ace. Very Happy

DVDs are much better though, for anyone thinking of buying a blu ray player it works out better just buying a ps3 as it has one of the best blu ray systems set up inside of them.

Remember how much Video Recorders cost when they first came out? I bought one from Colourvision, near Asda on the drip for 3 years. A Ferguson Videostar. £15 per month over 3 years!

You can buy a brand new DVD player for less than £17 at Argos now!

I know. It's amazing how things come down in price. It's the same with Wanderers shirts. they will want £39..99 or thereabouts for a new shirt. After the halfway mark of the season they will be half price.

I've never had the urge to kick the crap out of a DVD. So definitely DVD and as of now Blu-Ray.

Our first video recorder was a Ferguson videostar, that had a lead attached to work the remote control. I do miss lending my mates blue movies on tape when i was a teenager, great childhood memories.

Philips were the best as you could tape on both sides like a normal cassette.

But i would have a DVD over a VHS any day of the week. The dvd doesn't wear out and snap like a VHS did. But saying that I still have a working video recorder as I still have too many tapes. Another good reason for DVD is the amount of storage space which is a fraction of what a VHS takes up!

Have to go with Dvd's although we've got loads of Vhs tapes mostly of the kids when they were growing up

We've even got reels of 8mm film from the 70's.
